over whether to get ds (3) and Innotab or Leappad for xmas. Am so confused. Been online ages now and am none the wiser.

Am leaning more towards Innotab not sure why though.

on plus side its entertained me during a boring lunch in work.

Get an iPod touch. We have a leap pad, friends son has an innotab. Both rubbish and apps are expensive

They're cheaper than the innotabs, easier to use, and better all round.

And my 6 year old has an iPad and will be getting an IPod touch for christmas :)

Although his iPad was bought for him by a charity I will save like hell for his I touch as the iPad has been the best educational toy possible for him.

My 3 year old has an I pod touch and looks after it really well. There are tons of fab learning apps as well as fun ones :)

DozyDuck · 13/08/2012 17:13

The thing with the iPod touch is that you can get them cheaper than the leapad stuff, also a lot of apps are free (leap pad and innotab ones are expensive) and the ones that you do have to buy for iPod usually have a free trial one so you can see of your child can use it before you buy it. Also it doubles as an iPod so you can buy some child friendly headphones for long car rides.

Also they last a lot longer if looked after as they will never seem 'childish' Grin

Ds2 is 3 and loves the games on the IPad. My 2 DSs spend more time on it than I do!

tinkcantwaittomove · 13/08/2012 18:05

we have leappad it is really good

it is a great size
comes with camera
really great art application
games are really good

ObviouslyInvisible · 13/08/2012 18:13

My DS is 3 and he has my old iPhone. There's loads of great apps for it, many for free. He loves it and it's very portable (great for the hairdressers!) When he's a bit older we'll probably get him an iPad, and get a protective case for it.
I looked at leappads and innotabs and think an iPad is more versatile.

Dd has the leap pad, its quite good, although the camera is very poor quality, it eats batteries and the games are stupidly expensive. I would go for the ipod touch if I could find one at the right price. It would work out cheaper in the long run when you consider the cost of leap pad games.
