Went to visit PIL on friday. Lots of back ground but things that have annoyed me are..

MIL - When I said I might want dc no. 3 said I ought to go round wards with sil (dr) and see how hard it was for some parents. Just because I would like 3 dc I dont think i'm being selfish!!

FIL - (stupid but...)
Discussion about burgers/ macdonalds.

FIL to DS - I'm sure you'll have Macdonalds Burgers soon
MIL - Well i took austinfriars H and assil* to Macdonalds when they were children
FIL - Well that's disgraceful!

I mean WTF. Macdonalds is not a regular meal but to visit once disgraceful! and to say I'm sure your mother will take you soon!

Friend of PIL came round today and asked 'do you think you will return to work?' DD is only 8mo and I have moved so dh can work since giving birth o dd. Angry

It doesn't sound too bad to me, but then I'm not in the situation you're in with them.

They just sound like they're talking about normal stuff and what they think about it.

Could you be interpreting it from a not very positive angle do you think?

austinfriars · 13/08/2012 00:34

No not really,

I have said I would like dc no 3 and so MIL has said quite clearly that i should be grateful for what i have got and if I wish for a dc no 3 I should go round baby ward with sil and see how lucky I am.
Now, I know that i am lucky to have 2dc. I have PCOS and didn' ovulate for over a year. My mother lost 12 babiesa due to mc!! Dont need IL to tell me o be grateful!!!

Macdonalds 'I'm sure you'll be taken there soon - what a disgrace - WTF!!"

So fed up with snotty nosed views

Yes, I can see how your MIL thinking she's got some influence over whether you have another baby would piss you off.

But who gives a monkeys what your FIL thinks about Macdonalds?? You don't really do you? Grin

austinfriars · 13/08/2012 00:37

Oh and as for work... I gave up my job to follow dh to new location during mat leave, now he may have to move again (dd8mo) so forgive me if i dont rush round looking for a job i'll have to leave in 3 months!

Have you ever told them how you feel?

Nagoo · 13/08/2012 00:42

I'm not understanding the McDonalds thing. Your MIL said she took her DC there and your FIL disapproved?

And how is going round a ward looking at lovely little new babies going to put you off having another one?

Your MIL is rubbish at arguing.

AgentZigzag · 13/08/2012 00:45

'Your MIL is rubbish at arguing.'

I've never heard anything so scathing on MN Nagoo hahahahaha Grin

SIL is on a baby ward - those with inherited illness.
FIL is just a snob

It's good to get things in perspective when you know what other people have to endure (with the baby ward).

Is there any reason why your MIL wouldn't want you to have another one?

I mean, selfish about what exactly? Deciding you'd like to share what you've got with another child?
