To wonder if sometimes deleting comments sometimes backfires?

I often wonder if fuckwittery should just be left for all to see? As i am often left with a "oooh, i wonder what was said" type feeling? If someone has said something awful, most people will think they are fuckwits so just leave it there in all its anti-glory? Just a thought.

I don't know really - on balance you're probably right. The level of fuckwittery today is in full moon territory and yet it isn't full moon. Quite unusual. Have hidden a lot of threads today!

FamiliesShareGerms · 12/08/2012 17:20

But posts aren't usually deleted just because they are a bit fuckwitted, are they? some threads would be very short if that were the case

Tee2072 · 12/08/2012 17:21

I rarely report personal attacks as I think some are justified. My exceptions being calling me or others stupid. As I think that's beyond rude. I'm weird.

But yes, I think deletions can be troublesome.

Would be much better to allow a 'hide posters' option and that way those who don't want to see such things can hide them.

Dawndonna · 12/08/2012 17:27

I got deleted yesterday for suggesting that somebody was a perhaps not who they purported to be. She'd used a name not disimilar to another, a 'hot topic', first post and didn't bother putting in a reappearance.

Ah well.

Dawndonna · 12/08/2012 17:29

I agree with you about the 'stupid' word, Tee and don't think you're weird at all. Stupid is the only word banned in this house.

Tee2072 · 12/08/2012 17:30

It is the only word that I can honestly say I hate. It isn't allowed in this house either.

danteV · 12/08/2012 17:34

I know what you mean some people should have their 'fuckwittery' displayed for all to see.
I don't like stupid either.

Lucyellensmum99 · 12/08/2012 17:35

yes, stupid is a bad word Tee2072, but then again, i don't like hate either :)

I got deleted for a personal attack, im only sorry the person i said it to probably didn't read it, but fair enough. I just sometimes think that maybe a "reminder" of the rules is better so that we can at least see what has been said and not make assumptions that can then elevate the nastiness to the stratisphere (i can't spell today)

I have maintained for ages that sometimes you really have to call a fuckwit a fuckwit to get their attention.

Calling someone stupid is just mean. Call me ignorant. Call me silly. Call me a fuckwit. Don't call me stupid!!! Grin

Lucyellensmum99 · 12/08/2012 20:31

fuckwit really is my favourite word :)

Question: When posts are offensive/racist/libelous, can they not just be deleted full stop, no message saying that it has been deleted, just gone?
