To want to report these guys

My elderly inlaws recently had a delivery of a sofa bed from argos, due to their age they asked the delivery guys if they would deliver it upstairs as they couldnt manage it, the delivery guys said no, in desperation they offered the men 25 pounds to do it, the men agreed, took the money and delivered the bed upstairs. When they told me this I looked at argos terms of conditions and it clearly states they they will deliver to any room of your choice be it upstairs or downstairs for no extra charge.
I am incensed by this and feel that my inlaws were taken advantage of, obviously they perhaps shouldnt have offered them money but they would have struggled to get the bed upstairs otherwise and were desperate.

Shall I complain???

Yes

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 10/08/2012 22:35

Yes. You may not get anywhere, but it might get Argos to retrain their people so they don't do it to anyone else at the very least.

workshy · 10/08/2012 22:35

yes complain -they absolutely will deliver to any room and it's shocking they charged extra

PigeonPie · 10/08/2012 22:36

Yes definitely complain. That's unreasonable and they were fleecing vulnerable customers.

HappyAsChips · 10/08/2012 22:39

Definitely complain! Funnily enough, we had a sofa bed delivered from Argos around 10 days ago. They delivered it upstairs with no problems whatsoever. Those men should not have taken advantage of your in-laws.

BettySuarez · 10/08/2012 22:41

A few words on Twitter would do the trick.

Crazyfatmamma · 10/08/2012 22:44

Thanks guys one of my concerns is that the men involved know where my inlaws live and if they get reprimanded or even sacked they they may work out who complained and get nasty I know this seems dramatic but I wouldnt want them put at risk. Its pretty scary to think that they deliberately fleeced 2 very elderly people, my inlaws are in their 80s.

They've probably done this to others, and will continue to trick other vulnerable customers until they are stopped. You should definitely tell Argos.

BTW if the delivery people had a difficult job to do I might slip them a tip when they had finished, but that's a different issue altogether.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 11/08/2012 10:55

Oh my god yes! Definitely complain. Thieving b*%%23%s!!!!

Iheartpasties · 11/08/2012 10:59
