To ask on here for votes?

I have entered a comp from a holiday company. The prize is a voucher for a cottage type break away.
A few years back my family, sparklyGothKats family and Misdee family did a cottage holiday together which was wonderful. We really want to do it again and if we win, we could.
Wibu to ask for votes on here given that we are all mnEtters?

They took a voting page down yesterday because someone reported it unfortunately.

Olympia2012 · 08/08/2012 13:47

Yes I suppose it's a bit unfair...

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 08/08/2012 13:50

Yabu

Pandemoniaa · 08/08/2012 13:54

Yes YWBU. It's got to be one rule for everyone and voting threads are usually deleted sharpish. I don't like rules much but I've got to say that I'd hate to see MN littered with voting "opportunities". No matter how much I'd like to see an individual poster win a holiday.

SoleSource · 08/08/2012 14:00

I look forward to each of you slagging each other on AIBU during and after the holiday.

WorraLiberty · 08/08/2012 14:01

Sole Grin

It does sound a bit unfair OP

lisad123 · 08/08/2012 14:08

I honestly don't see much difference between this and asking on FB, work friends, families ect. But hey rules are rules Blush

TallDwarf · 08/08/2012 14:10

I'd vote if you sent me the link :)

Olympia2012 · 08/08/2012 14:19

There's thousands of us... And it mnhq allowed it, active convos may get taken over as word got round

lisad123 · 08/08/2012 14:45

Yes but you wouldn't all vote Grin

It's totally different though, isn't it? Your Facebook page is personal. Presumably you'll ask people at work and family face-to-face. It's nothing like asking a forum full of people who don't know you whether they'd cast a vote for someone known only to them by a username! Also, as Olympia says, once it gets allowed there's real potential for thousands of these requests to flood the board.

Pandemoniaa · 08/08/2012 14:47

Yes but you wouldn't all vote

But we'd have to see the board clogged up with begging voting requests, wouldn't we?

Pandemoniaa · 08/08/2012 14:49

PS. There's such a thing as private messaging on MN. If you are certain that your request will be well received by whoever you contact, why not send them a link that way?

Gigondas · 08/08/2012 14:51

There was a phase of people asking on chat for kids in some photo contest too. And very boring it was .

Not that I can't see why you wouldn't want to win. , just not place to ask.

lisad123 · 08/08/2012 15:00

Goodness PM all the mnetters that know us, might take a few months Grin

Hi lisad123,

As much as we would love you and all of you lovely MNetters to win everything you enter, as others have said, we can't allow 'vote for me' type threads.

There are just too many folks who would love to win luffly stuff or vote for their charity etc we would be inundated with requests and it would make a nonsense of the Talk boards.

We wish you lots of luck with this and we do hope that you win.

lisad123 · 08/08/2012 15:23

Thats the nicest telling off I have had Grin
