It's odd, I never hear 'little woman' or 'little lady' when addressing a girl.

keely027 · 07/08/2012 15:34

I know! Sugar rice...it just makes me cringe...

It's one of those things that inexplicably irritates me, too.

Also people referring to DD as "little princess", like she's supposed to be pink and frilly at all times. Ick!

Yama · 07/08/2012 15:38

Aye Euphemia, "the wee man" is a lot less cutesy than 'your little man' isn't it?

lurkedtoolong · 07/08/2012 15:38

I call my cat "little man" so would never call a child it. Wee man maybe...

wannabedomesticgoddess · 07/08/2012 15:41

I knew a girl who constantly referred to her son as "wee man" or "little man". Drove me crazy. I know he technically is a little man, but you gave him a name for a reason.

NutmegKate · 07/08/2012 15:42

When DS1 was born my mother never, ever referred to him by his name it was always " young man ". It used to make me stabby very cross.

She's started doing it with DGS now. Angry

DozyDuck · 07/08/2012 15:42

We say 'little lad' I like it. Smile

keely027 · 07/08/2012 15:44

I say we should start a petition to get rid of the terms...little man...awww bless...bless his cotton socks..and referring to having a very painful ceasarean referred to as " coming out of the sunroof"... Whose is with me?

LittleBugsMum · 07/08/2012 15:44

I don't like it. Nor do I like dressing boys like mini men either. Girls dress like little girls, not mini women in beige slacks and a sensible blouse...
