I found my dc name and personal details on a company website without my knowledge or being asked if it was ok to do so. Looks as if ex gave the ok surely it would need both parents consent as dc is a minor and I feel very uncomfortable about this being public knowledge.I feel responsible that dc is kept away from social networks, mobile phones at such a young age until older.

Have you asked them to remove your DC's details? I would hope that they would be helpful when you tell them your DC is a child.

What sort of company is it and why would they need to publish your DCs details on their website?

Does your DC know their details have been made public?

Shakirasma · 05/08/2012 18:37

I cannot think of anything that requires consent from more than one parent. So if his other parent gave permission then I would say the company are doing nothing wrong.

Perhaps you should approach them about removing his details.

Sirzy · 05/08/2012 18:38

Does their father have parental responsibility?

Birdsgottafly · 05/08/2012 18:38

Anyone who has PR can make the decision alone, it doesn't need all parties.

How old is your DC?

Dprince · 05/08/2012 18:46

Both parents rarely have to consent to anything. One is enough. What affiliation does your ex have to the company?

threerings · 05/08/2012 18:48

DC is 7. yes ex does have PR which means informing on both our parts of anything to do with Dc.

Depending on website and details, I would say YABU.

I wouldn't feel the need to consult about every club list, competition entry (that usually allows details to be used for promotion purposes) etc.

Sirzy · 05/08/2012 18:53

Do you tell your ex every little thing you do?

threerings · 05/08/2012 18:56

something as public as that would safice a by the way dc details are being advertised on a website just to let you know. I let ex know of relevent things to regarding dc.

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 18:58

PR certainly dies not mean informing each other of everything!

Which company is this?

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 18:58

*does

Dprince · 05/08/2012 18:58

But ' relevant' is an opinion. Your ex may have felt, this wasn't. Tbh without knowing what the company is, why your dcs details are there. Its hard to judge if yabu.

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 18:58

Maybe he simply forgot?

threerings · 05/08/2012 19:06

Its an ex partners of his website and a little weird of her to do so as dc is not her child or related in any way. to be putting dc details out there , finding it all a bit odd.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 05/08/2012 19:07

How many details have they published? Is it a pic, first name and age or full name and address?

How did you find out?

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 19:09

Website to do with what?

threerings · 05/08/2012 19:12

Was told in the street by a friend , Its an uneasy feeling to be told in this way that this is happening. Think will ask for it to be taken from the site. Strange to be doing it.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 05/08/2012 19:14

But what is it?
Has he won a comp? Or is he being used as 'the face' of the site? Or is there just a comment saying "threerings DS is 7yo and can be found at this address".

threerings · 05/08/2012 19:15

They split up a year ago so even more weird as the site was started last september.

OP posts:
Dprince · 05/08/2012 19:18

I still don't think that is enough info to decide, but understand if you don't want to post more.
It depends on why he is on their and also what details of his are there.

Pandemoniaa · 05/08/2012 19:18

What sort of site is it?

threerings · 05/08/2012 19:22

Parents in law have arrived, back later

OP posts:
Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 19:24

Guess we will never know then!

Dprince · 05/08/2012 19:26
