but it was wonderful- I was young , thin, I could drink and dance all night and be up in the morning with not a bother on me.
It was brilliant

FeakAndWeeble · 04/08/2012 12:34

What, stuff like: 'My playground was the street I lived on' bla bla bla - 'Like if you agree'? Yes, with you on that. But I just can't stand anyone who likes memes at all. They're repetitive, unfunny and bloody stupid most of the time.

This thread will probably collapse under the weight of people telling you that if you don't like it you should leave fb, btw.

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2012 12:35

Back when you could leave one job and walk straight into another, most people could get a mortgage and there was far more money available to communities...life was pretty wonderful compared to now.

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2012 12:37

Oh if it's the Facebook shit that FeakAndWeeble described then YANBU Grin

And conkers...why are conkers always mentioned?

hiddenhome · 04/08/2012 12:40

Songs weren't full of foul, obscene lyrics about rape, violence and torture Sad

Itsjustafleshwound · 04/08/2012 12:45

FB is one of those things that need to be done in moderation....

It is quite funny when someone posts a picture of something which is a toal anachronism to modern life ....

TheCrackFox · 04/08/2012 12:54

Hmm. There was no maternity pay or any real rights for women to go back to work once they had had a baby. Single women could only get a mortgage if their dad guaranteed it for them.

Mrsjay · 04/08/2012 12:54

Pssst what is meme ? ,

Itsjustafleshwound · 04/08/2012 12:59

Agree with crackfox - life was pretty limited for women who didn't want to be mothers or housekeepers. They went to uni but careers finished when they got married and started a family.

I agree that I do get annoyed with the selective way we look at our past and forget the reality.

nokidshere · 04/08/2012 13:20

exactly that freak !

I wonder how many of them are posted by people who weren't even born "back in the day" hahaha

OP posts:
FeakAndWeeble · 04/08/2012 14:33

MrsJay those photo-thingies that get shared around on the internet, or drawings of 1950s housewives baking cakes with 'funny' slogans on them and stuff. I looked for one as an example but when I posted the link I got a message from Norton advising of an attempted attack on my computer so probably best not to!

Mrsjay · 04/08/2012 20:21

Oh I know what you mean freakandweeble some of them amuse me some i am a bit meh about i never 'like' them though
