To be really fed up with the sound effects on the Olympics coverage?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Olympics.

But I'm getting really hacked off with the random kind of noise that gets played every so often. It doesn't even happen at regular times or when a certain thing is displayed on screen so I don't get why it's being used. It's a kind of drum beat type noise, literally 1 second or so long.

Plus the constant Chariots of fire...don't get me started on that!

We went to see one of the events which has been plagued with the noise and it wasn't something we heard so I guess it's being added just for TV viewers.

I know it's really petty, but I just wish it'd either be actually used for something or stopped. At the moment it just sounds like someone's playing it every so often by mistake!!

I don't know what you mean! We're watching on the many channels on Virgin (550 onwards - all 24 lovely channels!) as well as on BBC1/3/4, as appropriate, and I haven't heard anything like that.

There is a sound effect they play when they interrupt a live feed to repeat a clip. For example, in the tennis when they want to reshow a point. They also play a logo flying across the screen. I'm used to it now but it annoyed me to begin with. It sounds like DD's rain shaker.

I'm on the BBC Olympics channels (the extra ones) so maybe the "special" noises have been reserved for these ones only...

Ok thanks happy, maybe it's not just me going mad! They may be better at timing it on some channels then as it certainly wasn't for anything as obvious as showing replays when I've seen it. At least that explains how it should be. Still does my head in though!!
