To be fed up with the "bashing" threads

Seem so many threads are bashing the following;

People on benefits
People who work but are topped up by benefits
People who are on benefits being able to access private education via help
Special needs bashing

It seems that so many are so angry or jealous of others who get these things. In the true light of day, no one I know would choose to be on benefits and why are we all do obsessive about ensuring we deserve more than anyone and heaven forbid anyone get a helping hand.

If we spent as much time as we do on theis basing as we did on being nice and considering other we would all be a lot better!!

Really? I though this site was very un benefits bashy. I haven't seen any but could have just missed them.

FeakAndWeeble · 03/08/2012 19:23

I'm fed up with threads where people moan about stuff they've seen on other threads. If you see something on a thread that you don't agree with, challenge it. Starting a further thread to have a generic whinge about a minority of people is hardly helpful.

Olympia2012 · 03/08/2012 19:27

I have seen a lull in the benefit bashing lately... How odd that you have seen the opposite

YouOldSlag · 03/08/2012 19:34

YABU- I have never seen any special needs bashing on Mumsnet, nor am I ever likely to!

shapoopio · 03/08/2012 20:44

I think you're thinking of Netmums :-o

I haven't seen any benefit or SN bashing recently and I've never seen any 'working but claiming tax credits' bashing ever. Nor have I ever seen anyone ever having a go about a child being given educational help because their parents are on benefits.

You are making up shite just to stir, or you are on the wrong site.

FartyMcTarty · 03/08/2012 21:02

There really is a lot of landlord / tenant bashing atm.

epeesarepointythings · 03/08/2012 21:03

I think we should have a bashing bashing thread.

usualsuspect · 03/08/2012 21:05

There seems to be a lot of smoker bashing ATM

It goes in cycles though, next week it will be summat else,

lisad123 · 03/08/2012 21:06

When the government goes on an all out, more than normal, assault on people getting benefits, it stands to reason lots of other people think they're fair game to take pot shots at.

Unfortunately it's all the vulnerable sub-groups who bear the brunt of it, people who really could do with more compassion instead of being made to feel worthless and a burden.

flyoverthehill · 04/08/2012 08:45

zigzag sub-groups !!! whose bashing now ?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 04/08/2012 08:51

I don't think there's any more benefits or SEN basing than there is LL bashing, tennant bashing, middle class bashing, boden-mummy bashing, smoker bashing, shop worker/waitress bashing, teacher bashing, nurse bashing etc. etc.

On an internet forum there will always be posters who want to have a go at someone who's annoyed them, and it often comes across as having a go at a whole group of people.

On the whole I think we're pretty democratic in our slagging off Grin

outraged I've seen threads on all those subjects. People always argue with the OP but they are there. I don't agree with them but people are entitled to post them.
