If you lend somebody your lawn mower

...... That when they return it they might at least leave you some petrol or fill up petrol can so we can use it without going to petrol station first!

DP is feeling slightly, actually majorly hacked off that said lawn mower had been returned empty. For the sake of a couple of quid they could have put a couple of litres in petrol can. It was probably 3/4 full when leant!!!

Grrr [hmmm]

YANBU. He won't make that mistake again. Didn't they even offer to give him some money? Cheapskates....

cozietoesie · 03/08/2012 15:28

Quite. Not everyone will necessarily have a petrol can to use but the least they could have done is to give you a fiver or so.

that sort of things really winds me up UANBU

We had a new hedge trimmert he other year as old one had broken. In the spring couldn't find it, then DP remembered he had lent to a mutual 'friend'. He said he hadn't given it back as we 'hadn't asked for it', will not be lending to him again.

My DB once borrowed my carpet cleaner and returned it still full of his dirty carpet water. Yuk!

I think that's worse! Wink

OP the person you lent it to is very rude.

oscarwilde · 03/08/2012 18:10

I'm guessing they didn't wipe it down and clean the blades either then ? :)
YANBU.
Question is - when they ask to borrow it again, will you be up front and say that you would prefer not to as they returned it empty or lie and say it is broken (then merrily use it in their hearing within 5 mins) Grin

AgentZigzag · 03/08/2012 18:14

Very cheeky of them not to pay for the petrol they used, especially as you cheekily reminded them of it by giving the petrol can with the mower Grin

Good move - although you maybe should have been a bit more blatent about it? A list of the addresses/prices of your local petrol stations? Grin

Ah - petrol can with mower. I overlooked that. Lazy blighters then as well as rude.
