Should be utterly ashamed of how foul/filthy and outdated their public toilets are???

When I read your thread title, I just knew what you were going to say before I clicked on the thread! They are pretty bad, aren't they?

FutTheShuckUp · 29/07/2012 23:08

I'm appalled to be perfectly honest. I've been going there for about 28 years on and off and they are exactly the same as ever! Tiny filthy and those metal all in one sink units- urghh

I guess the problem is that it's the visitors who are rich, not the local authority.

Perhaps local businesses should get together to sort them out.

FutTheShuckUp · 29/07/2012 23:09

I would bet the local authority makes a good amount of revenue particularly as their car parking charges are anything but reasonable

The ones in Polzeath are just the same . . . . . . . and Wadebridge (apart from the newish ones near the start of the Camel trail.

It's not just Padstow is it though - they are like that all over Cornwall - thinks of some dreadful ones in Fowey.

Thinking about the public toilets near me. They are in shopping centres. I guess then they are updated and maintained by the landlords of the shopping centres. Not many big shopping centres in Cornwall . . . . .

I think they do it to stick two fingers up at the tourists. They don't seem to like tourists really.

Hi Everyone I work for Padstow Tourist Office and yes, we agree, the toilets by the bus station are disgusting. Until recently they belonged to Cornwall Council who resisted requests to upgrade them. Padstow Town Council have now gained control of them from the County and are submitting planning to have the whole area upgraded including the toilets. The council offices next door need refurbishing too so I think it will all be done together. In the meantime the ones by our office on North Quay are OK (as OK as public toilets can be!). They also have baby changing and disabled access. All the ones mentioned on here belong to Cornwall Council, please feel free to contact them as they don't listen to us.
The ones at Rock are owned by Padstow Harbour Commissioners. I read in their minutes that the toilets are continually being vandalised (beach towels flushed down the toilet etc) and as such they have been reluctant to spend a lot of money refurbishing them.
I promise you that we try not to stick two fingers up to tourists but not everything is within our control. If you're ever down in Padstow pop in and say hi, we're in the red brick building on the far side of the harbour.
