To love Boden Dresses!

I am pretty certain that last time I looked at the woman's section of Boden it was all quite frumpy and boring and I recall thinking god help me if I ever start wearing clothes like this. (I have always loved their mini Boden stuff for both children but only in the sales! ).

Anyway, not are why I went onto the women's section but I am wanting to wear mores dressed so I looked, and in fact I absolutely love lots of the dresses in the sale! I am actually quite shocked, and more so that I am actually going to buy at least two dresses and my biggest problem is knowing what ones to buy as I like so many (and what size as I am in between 8-10 around my ribs/hips and never bought adult Boden before).

Have I suddenly Grown Up old ? And changed my fashion sense? (not that I actually have any)
Has Boden changed their styles to be more fashionable?
AIBU to actually like this style of clothing?

And will it be obvious I am an MNer if I get these dresses? Will I get people coming up and asking me questions about breast feeding/bottle feeding or my opinion on private education and using parent parking without children in the car when I am wearing them?

YANBU. I like them too and people say nice things about them when you wear them. I am a size 22. They are not complimenting me because of my supermodel figure Grin. Some of the Boden dresses just look lovely.

Whether or not YABU I don't know, but YA surely looking to stir Wink

I recently bought myself something very naice from Boden which I thought would be lovely and is lovely but takes about an hour to iron. It left me wondering if IWBU to find this a disproportionate faff or simply a lazy slattern. But I didn't dare ask MN!

I've looked at the new collection and wasn't impressed at all. Most look so boring. I then looked at the Joules site, only to notice that the designs were mostly the same just in different fabrics, or they used the same fabrics to make different items. They were both rather dull.

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2012 19:22

I wouldn't know a Boden dress if it stopped me in the street and said, "Look at me Worra, I'm a Boden dress".

But I've seen some of the links on here and most of them scream 'Mumsy' so no thanks.

Backtobedlam · 29/07/2012 19:26

I like the Boden stuff for the kids, but I usually try to mix and match it with other things as you can spot Boden a mile off. I wonder if the adult dresses are the same?

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2012 19:29

How can you spot Boden a mile off unless you've browsed a Boden catalogue?

VBisme · 29/07/2012 19:33

All looks incredibly mumsy to me. But then it isn't the kind of style I like, if you like the dresses then buy them, the label means nothing.

PavlovtheCat · 29/07/2012 22:50

worrall that was my impression and why I have not ever really looked after the first time. But, some of the dresses in the sale are lovely! That must simply mean I have indeed become 'mother' Grin.

I am quite into shift dress styles though as it nicely hides the ring of fat around my middle Grin and looks good which flat shoes as I can't wear heals at the moment and there are a few there that are quite bold in colour and I think would really flatter me. I was very surprised that they did not say 'mumsy' to me, as I expected. Of course there were some hideous ones, and some bland ones, but not all of them by a long shot.

Have not looked at the new range. Only interested in cheap Grin

BM I would so not stir! not in AIBU, not me sir no way.

I have just looked at the page of Boden dresses and I have to say, they are absolutely horrible.. sorry OP, they really are.

my granny wore stuff like this in the 1970's and looked frumpy in it then...

squeakytoy · 29/07/2012 23:04

They actually all look as if someone has made them at home themselves.. or is that the idea???

FreudianSlipper · 29/07/2012 23:14

i can spot boden a mile off, as i can next, the white stuff they jsut have a look about their clothes

sorry imo is mumsy. had a look at yet another catologue they sent me (occasionally order ds some stuff from there like their boys clothes) but i will look through any catalogue my fav being the ones that come with sunday papers that sell sock warmers, pizza cutters
