To wake my sleepy daughter completely?

She whacked her head on a radiator last night and has stitches in the top of her head Sad so I'm on concussion watch!
Do I need to wake her completely every few hours or just give her a gentle nudge to check she's ok? I put her to bed exhausted (her and me both!) a couple of hours ago. She's now snoring her head off and when I gently prodded at her just now, she snorted and wriggled her legs a bit. Is that ok or do I need to engage her in conversation every couple of hours?!

I sound totally PFB but she's actually 6 and my 3rd child, just not had many head bumps over the years somehow!

I think the wriggling is fine. Most recent advice I had on this was to let them sleep but check they're not totally unresponsive every so often.

If it was last night and you can hear her snoring then i would leave her, otherwise just a gentle prod is more than enough.

Try and get some sleep!

I would say given that it's 24 hours since her head inury you don't need to wake her tonight if she has been ok since then.

Maybe give her a prod when you go to bed; if she responds appropriately then leave her to sleep. Sleep is very healing Smile

I would let her sleep normally, maybe just look in a couple of times. I would only wake her if she's still asleep after her normal waking time in the morning.

agree with sidge.

get some rest!

Oh. Thanks. I feel slightly less stressy for those replies! Was expecting horror stories!
She slept with me when we got back fro a&e at 3am last night and as I couldn't sleep, i roused her every couple of hours. She was hot and woozy and was sick this morning but after a morning snuggled up in front of a dvd, she perked up and has been absolutely fine all day.
Will set my alarm for 3am just to be on the safe side though!
