to feel really sorry for Mr Bean

He's so sweet but socially awkward and feel so sorry for him and his clumsy ways.

Just watched the episode where he goes out for a meal for his birthday and orders the steak and is too scared to send it back.

I want to weep.

I love Rowan Atkinson but Mr Bean just doesn't do it for me. Too cringeworthy.

whyme2 · 27/07/2012 18:27

See I feel the same way about Mr Bean, funny but in a kind of sad care in the community type of way.

My dcs think he is hilarious though and we have watched and re watched too many episodes.

NoVegBeforeSkeg · 27/07/2012 18:28

He's a bit obnoxious though.
What about the poor 3 wheeled car man who keeps being forced off the road by him? Grin

MrsKeithRichards · 27/07/2012 18:31

I suppose the 3 wheeler car bullying is a pecking order issue.

I have no sympathy. He needs to learn to be more assertive. And competent.

MrsKeithRichards · 27/07/2012 18:33

I'd like to see a prequel. To see what he was like as a child and what his mum was like.

Ds is 13 and can't watch it. He gets upset like you do op!

He got really upset yesterday watching I hired it for him cos he is fascinated with ASD for some reason. . He is destined to work with children and adults with SN I think. He loves babies too.

anniewoo · 27/07/2012 18:40

Is Mr Bean on the autistic spectrum? Apparently Rowan Atkinson based him on somebody he knew / had met

lovebunny · 27/07/2012 20:20

i wondered why i couldn't watch mr bean - too painful. he's asd...like the taxi driver today who was so interested in what he was saying that he wouldn't let me out of the cab, he was on the spectrum too...

crashdoll · 27/07/2012 20:36

My (adult!) sister is terrified of Mr Bean. I feel attached to him in a weird way. I had all the videos as a kid and used to have to watch them when my sister was in bed.

MrsHelsBels74 · 27/07/2012 20:38

I just find Mr Bean cringeworthy.

kittyfishersknickers · 27/07/2012 20:39

I used to love him as a child.

He's not all put=upon though - quite often he gets himself into scrapes because he is being sneaky or trying to do something he shouldn't or can't be bothered to do something he should. I think everyone is secretly a bit like Mr Bean and thinks of doing the things he does (I am particularly remembering the bit when he tries to break out of a multi-storey car park because when he goes to leave he is charged 30 quid or something.

Emmielu · 27/07/2012 20:40

I love him. I agree hes funny but in a "aww bless him" way. DD loves him & shes 5.

Brightspark1 · 27/07/2012 20:42

We used to host children from Belarus who were affected by Chernobyl. Without exception, they all loved him, he got us through tears of homesickness, tantrums. He seems to transcend culture and language.
He's bloody annoying though

quoteunquote · 27/07/2012 20:43

here
or here

I'm not impressed by his attitude towards women.

crashdoll · 27/07/2012 21:50

Don't feel sorry him, he's just been watched by about a billion people!

anniewoo · 27/07/2012 21:55

Wasn't it brill Grin

ratspeaker · 27/07/2012 21:56

Yup only thing thats made me feel DH insisting on having the olympics on was worth it

TheCunnyFunt · 27/07/2012 22:06

My DS was so excited to see him at the opening ceremony, he loves Mr Bean, he was jumping up and down on the sofa shouting Mr Bean!! Mr Bean!!

I'm going to be hearing all about it for days. Weeks.

DS is on spectrum too.
