To expect B&Q to sell welding gloves?

I have to take the cat for her annual check up and vaccinations and the welding gloves were lost in the flood, so I need new ones.

B&Q don't sell them, so dh ordered some online because I couldn't be bothered to go to Machine Mart.

You'd think B&Q would sell them wouldn't you? They told me that welding was "a specialist activity" Hmm

I don't need them for welding, I need them to pick my cat up Grin

Anyway, B&Q are rubbish with all their poncey building materials, but no welding gloves.

What you got a blinking lion?

MrsAnxiety · 26/07/2012 22:27

I like B&Q. I also agree that welding is a bit specialist. What would be wrong with gardening gloves or handling your cat? They sell loads of them

B&Q is a diy store

not sure I would want ther neighbours to be welding in the garage Hmm

lovebunny · 26/07/2012 22:46

misread as 'wedding gloves' and mind went into overdrive. i think in pictures...

I have a diminuitive kitty who is capable of killing a fully grown man which is why dh has to wear welding gloves to pick her up and get her into her cat carrier. My hands are too small and she just gets out of my grasp.

GetOrfMoiIand · 26/07/2012 22:50

Oh sorry I see you have them.

Your cat sounds mad Grin

ActionLiposomes · 26/07/2012 22:55

Have you tried oven gloves instead?

patosullivan · 26/07/2012 22:56

Arco sell all sorts of personal protective equipment. If there's a branch near you, I'm sure they'd sell them there.

Just in case you need more in the future...

hiddenhome · 26/07/2012 23:20

We have tried various other types of glove and her claws get through everything apart from the welding gloves Grin Last time I tried to pick her up I spent a week on antibiotics and needed a tetanus shot Confused She's not to be messed with Grin

YABU to expect a regular DIY store to stock what they've explained is a specialist item. It's not their market.
Good luck with your killer cat though.

CogPsych · 27/07/2012 02:05

I'm sure B&Q would sell welding gloves if it were profitable to do so. But it's not, so they don't.

Doingakatereddy · 27/07/2012 07:12

You should probably look at getting welding gauntlets as well, these provide protection up to shoulder.

And I am v glad B&Q don't encourage people to weld. The thought of some mumsnetters with an oxyacetylene torch is scary!

ripsishere · 27/07/2012 07:19

Does the vet provide her own to get killercat back into the box?
