And ask you all about weaning?

I'm sure this has been done to death on here, but not whilst my DD was this age!

DD is 5 months and I think I'm going to start weaning now, for the last month I've been gettin beady eyes everytime I eat! And she's very chewy. She doesn't sit up yet though.

I know the guidelines now are six months, what I was wondering is does everyone follow these? And has anyone found any cons of weaning earlier?

I didn't wait till 6 months. Started weaning DD at 4 and a half months....she was getting interested in food, could sit up and at that age was the size of an average 8 month old! Haven't found any cons so far...she's now 6mo and is doing really well.

Listen to the guidelines but also do what you feel is right.

Just before 6 months with both. I did blw though and i think they need to sit up properly by themselves to do that?

PenisVanLesbian · 23/07/2012 11:35

There is an entire weaning topic you know, might be an idea to post in there rather than AIBU.

So yabu.

DawnOfTheDee · 23/07/2012 11:35

Should've mentioned I haven't been doing BLW yet. Am going to introduce some of this soon but when i first started weaning it was purees only.

Have you had a look at the Weaning forum on here? You should wait until your baby can sit more or less unaided or at least comfortably on your lap or in high chair, it's not safe for them to swallow and digest solids if they can't sit upright. Watching you eat with interest doesn't necessarily mean she's ready, the sitting thing is the best guide. Oh and I recommend baby led weaning, it is so much fun! Enjoy.

slowestwildebeast · 23/07/2012 12:57

oh my lord. not baby led chuffing weaning.
Yanbu but please can people stop saying 'blw' I'm sick of it.

Noqontrol · 23/07/2012 16:58

Hmm erm right, if you say so wildebeast. Im sure people would be more than happy never to discuss this subject again if it makes you happy. Smile

In summary

Post on weaning topic for a more detailed discussion as the people there really care about this topic.

Its fine, most older children and people of our generation were weaned earlier than 6 months.

my dd is 5.5 months i just started giving her little tastes of things. Although I am just using jars mixed with pureed what we are eating. So far she has say half a jar or equal a day.
