To not go out today?

DD1 (2 years) has been out every day this week (OK once it was adult company, but she still enjoyed it).

I thought she had hayfever, but it is now apparent she has a cold - as do I. In fact, I feel very ill, and have the last couple of days.

The cold seems to have gone to my chest, which is tight, and I have a painful, yellow mucused (tmi) cough.

I've been hospitalised a lot, when I have coughs, as it worsens my asthma. I'm fine right now, but I don't want to go walking around, and then end up in A&E (which happens very quickly if it suddenly worsens).

I'm now being made to feel awful, by someone who keeps asking why I don't take her out, that I should just wander to the park & let her run around (the park was flooded a couple of days ago, and I've no reason to think it's dry, not after yesterday's rain).

DD1 also has a very, very runny nose, and is grizzly. At the moment she is happy watching her nursery rhyme DVD, and I really need to get some housework done.

But I just can't shake the feeling that I'm a lazy cow, sat inside, depriving my DD, especially as it was nicely pointed out to me.

Fuck it, have a duvet day! Smile

Of course you aren't being unreasonable. Tell whoever it is to naff off. I hope you feel better soon.

Melindaaa · 21/07/2012 15:36

Tell whoever is laying the guilt trip on you that they are free to take your dd out themselves, but that you have every intention of not doing so.

Tamisara · 21/07/2012 15:37

Thank you :)

Probably doesn't help that I haven't slept well the last two nights either, firstly with a really sore throat, then last night coughing... and DD1 (who doesn't usually sleep through) has slept both nights - Sod's Law!

A day at home never did anyone any harm. Hope you are both feeling better soon!

oh dear, I rarely take DS out without DH. Am I awful? I just let him play on his own indoors which he seems to really enjoy and occasionally make cakes.

ImperialBlether · 21/07/2012 17:39

Is this your husband/partner who's making snide comments, OP?

ImperialBlether · 21/07/2012 17:39

Don't you take him to the park or the shops, FeatureWall?

IHaveAFeatureWallAndILikeIt · 21/07/2012 18:18

yeah I just don't think to when we are alone, we just chill out. As soon as DH is around he turns into a hyper looney and thats when we go out. I take him to a coffee group once a week (in the school holidays when I'm not working) to play and he goes to nursery one day a week too. I take him out if he asks to, but he seems to enjoy pottering around so I don't think to disturb him. He also does football on sunday morning (but DH comes to that too).

I don't think of the shops as "going out" so there is that too.

Looking at it he does go out a lot, and when I am working he goes to one of his DGMs who also take him out.

Don't worry, he's not cooped up 24-7!
