To wear dhs loathes, and he mine?

Sorry, thread about a thread, but tht one was a bit odd.

Are we seriously the only couple that ever wear each others clothes? Even in a laundry crisis?

I thought it totally, totally normal that I wear dhs t shirts, shirts, jackets, boxers etc when needed (boxers brill for section scars) and he wears, well, not as much, but My band t shirts, dressing gowns, belts, etc. he nicks off with my scarves to wear as cravats as well, which is annoying, and everyone in the world nicks socks, surely? I nick my DADs socks if I am at his house and need some. Then obviously hats, gloves, scarves, motorbike helmets etc.

Or is that weird?

I wear nearly everything of his, love sleeping in his t-shirts! He wears nothing of mine apart from socks which we share anyway.

AMumInScotland · 19/07/2012 14:05

No, but only because we don't really fit each others clothes. I've got some shirts of his that shrank, and he's got some t-shirts of mine that seemed to get bigger each time they were washed (no idea how they managed that!), but we usually don't fit the same sizes even of socks and gloves.

bagelmonkey · 19/07/2012 14:08

I borrow DH's clothes if I want, but he can only fit into my dressing gown & uggs (at a push)

diddl · 19/07/2012 14:22

I occasionally sleep in a tshirt of his-but that´s it.

His clothes are too big for me, mine too small for him.

What´s a laundry crisis?

Booette · 19/07/2012 14:24

I used to wear DH's t-shirts or jumpers sometimes, but not any more as he still has the same clothes 15 years later!

thisisyesterday · 19/07/2012 14:26

dp and i don't really share clothes.
i've borrowed a jumper/coat now and then

but generally we wear our own clothes because... well... why wear someone else's when your own are right there??

paradisechick · 19/07/2012 14:27

I'll wear his t shirt to bed but that's about it. I prefer girl clothes!

Trills · 19/07/2012 14:31

You are not being unreasonable to do it, but you might be unreasonable to think that everyone does it.

We don't fit into each other's clothes. And we do washing regularly enough that we always have something of our own to wear, which is generally preferable than trying to wear something that was not purchased or designed with your shape or size in mind.

DP once wore a pair of my baggy linen trousers (rolled up) to be a pirate. I have been known to wear a giant jumper of his when feeling poorly. That's about it. His socks have the heels in the wrong place (I do wear men's socks, but a smaller size).

yellowraincoat · 19/07/2012 14:31

My partner is taller than me but width wise we're similar, so yes I borrow his clothes, but mine are too short for him. T-shirts, pants, jackets, jumpers - his are all fair game as far as I'm concerned.

He might have borrowed a jumper from me a couple of times. He complains that my boobs stretch his tshirts.

MrsCarriePooter · 19/07/2012 14:33

If desperate I would wear one of his old teeshirts to sleep in - but I think that's only happened once, when DD was a possetting newborn who had been sick on all my nighties. There's nothing wrong with his clothes, but I think they look better on him than they would on me. Oh, and I'd nick his jacket or jumper if I was cold out and about and didn't have mine with me, but I wouldn't go to a drawer at home and pick something of his out instead of something of mine. And I can't imagine a laundry crisis so desperate I didn't have anything of mine to wear!

If he wore any of my clothes including teeshirts they'd be so skintight he'd look like the campest man in Campville, and I wouldn't be seen dead next to him.

As for sharing underwear - ewwww. I don't care that they've been washed, I am NOT ever sharing underwear with anyone.

mrs2cats · 19/07/2012 14:35

Never worn DH's clothes nor he mine. Occasionally grabbed a flleece of his if I'm feeling cold and it's to hand and I can't be bothered going upstairs to get my own jumper (but I wouldn't go out in it).
Never shared socks.

I guess we've never thought about sharing clothes but mine would be too small for DH anyway and I prefer wearing my own clothes.

SirSugar · 19/07/2012 14:38

We have worn each others pants/knickers for the day Grin

Sallyingforth · 19/07/2012 14:38

DP often gets into my clothes - it can be annoying sometimes.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 19/07/2012 14:41

I nick his if I'm lounging...he has Marvel comic "lounge pants" that I covet...he's also nicked a couple of my t-shirts (which technically are men's t-shirts anyway) and we've both worn each other's socks.

catus · 19/07/2012 14:41

Well, DH and I are not the same size at all. So his trousers would be way too big for me, same with jackets. I'll borrow a jumper if I'm feeling the cold and his is easier to grab, but that's about it. As for the other way around, there is no way he could get into most of my clothes.
On the scarves and wool hat front, I guess we share them sometimes.

MorrisZapp · 19/07/2012 14:44

No way Jose. DP is far too precious about his gear to let me near it.

But I cannot wait for DS to get big enough for me to nick his jumpers.

AdoraBell · 19/07/2012 14:50

As much as my OH would love us to dress like twins, I resist. I don't buy anything that could be mistaken for masculine clothing if he decided to borrow it. That's more because of him buying, and then wearing on the same day, the same fleece, I mean exactly the same. I also don't borrow his tops unless disaster strikes. I don't mean a laundry crisis, I mean even after 5 days without power or running water following an earthquake I didn't feel a need to wear anything of his.

That's a different issue though, simple straightforward nicking his T-shirt/her scarf or similar occasionally wouldn't be a problem for me.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 19/07/2012 14:54

DP and I have the same size feet (in fact his are a leetle smaller than mine, the bastard; I have great clodhoppers) so we have shared pairs of Converse in the past.

He also wears my flowery Birkenstocks Grin for nipping out to the garden/bins.

And he once wore a pair of my heels to a party.

I went through a phase of wearing a pair of his running shoes ? they were SOOO comfy and I was doing a lot of traipsing around town at that stage.

Think that's all though.

Ephiny · 19/07/2012 15:00

No, we never do this Confused. His clothes would be far too big for me, and he wouldn't fit into any of mine (including socks and gloves, and certainly not shoes!).

I think he's occasionally given me his scarf or wooly hat to wear if we've been outdoors and I'm cold, that's about it though.

PenisVanLesbian · 19/07/2012 15:12

We share shoes. And I'm wearing his hoodie as I type. I like the smell of it Grin

simperingsally · 19/07/2012 17:28

I wear some of Dh's jumpers and t shirts to lounge about. Much comfier than mine being nice and baggy!
Dh has never worn anything of mine i dont think as nothing would fit him.

We do share white ankle socks though.

BadgersRetreat · 19/07/2012 17:50

i do sometimes borrow a pair of boxers to wear over my knickers when skiiing on v cold days to keep my bum warm

but DH is 6'4" and 16 stone with size 12 feet....and i'm normal woman sized so generally..No!

attheendoftheday · 19/07/2012 22:34

Dp steals my socks all the time and stretches them with his stupid big feet. I have offered to buy him his own in his size (nice unisex walking socks) but he says he has plenty of socks and continues to steal mine.

YANBU.
