There. I've said it.

Nest of cuddly vipers.

It's more of a manly slap on the back isn't it? (but conveying sisterhood in bulk)

AgentZigzag · 14/07/2012 00:09

Oooh, I love giving a virtual hug Smile

I'm really prickly in RL so the remoteness of it appeals to me.

dontcallmehon · 14/07/2012 00:10

You're all very cuddly beneath the viper-like exterior ;)

AgentZigzag · 14/07/2012 00:11

I don't think you should ever apologise for giving someone a hug either, it kind of lessens it a bit.

Unless you've got a weirdy hug fetish and enjoy inappropriate clinches.

DitaVonCheese · 14/07/2012 00:11

Ptffft. Perhaps I spend too much time lurking on the relationship boards but you can't move for unMumsnetty hugs. Nethuns, the lot of you.

Agent I like the remoteness too :)

dontcallmehon · 14/07/2012 00:12

I think we hug so much we need a hug emoticon.

Just tried to type net Huns and the iPhone corrected it to Neptune.

Yes, I hate real life hugs, but a virtual hug is simultaneously affectionate and distant. Perfect!

Is it a Douglas Coupland novel where they invent a hugging machine out of mattresses for geeks who need a hug but aren't comfortable with human contact?

(Pretty sure that would translate down well into a tiny icon. Hop to it, tech support!)

YABVU.. I fucking hate being hugged. For real or virtually. Its why I like this place. Don't go all huggy and shit on me now you bunch of vipers :o

ToothbrushThief · 14/07/2012 00:18

There is a FB group that I used to post on. I've drifted away because it's too much:

a) I've got to work today
b)
c) I have a sore leg from bumping into the coffee table
d) you poor thing
e) Not feeling myself today
f) Me neither. We need a group hug

Angry

Hugs are G R E A T
...but need to be targetted otherwise they lose impact

Hugs the lot of you :)

(all sweetness and light TT... I'm really a nice compassionate person honest....)

Angelico · 14/07/2012 00:20

Farely I am drifting towards you, arms wide, ready to cuddle-wuddle you...

:o

dontcallmehon · 14/07/2012 00:21

Yes too many hugs are a bit nauseating. But a targeted virtual hug is fine. Perhaps we should devise some criteria for what kind of hugs are acceptable and when.

ToothbrushThief · 14/07/2012 00:23

List of criteria:
Hugs after multiple dog farting - acceptable
Coffee table collisions - not acceptable

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 14/07/2012 00:27

There is a short story where a cuddly viper saves the world from alien invasion, so YANBU Grin

FarelyKnuts · 14/07/2012 00:33
AgentZigzag · 14/07/2012 00:33

DH talking too much while you're trying to MN - acceptable
MIL opens mouth to speak - unacceptable

I like the idea of a targeted hug campaign, maybe those bitter posters who like writing things to upset other people are in dire need?
