DS has been going to nursery now for just under 3 months. In that time, he's really taken to his key worker. He never cries when she takes him in the morning, she's always smiley and gives great summaries of his day.

When I picked ds up this afternoon, she mentioned that it's her birthday next week. I thought it would be nice to get her something from DS. Would this be weird? Dd is 13 mo so obviously doesn't have an opinion and DH is fairly ambivalent!

I love getting gifts for people so any excuse for me :-)
So yes, I would ( but not because I felt I had to, but because I wanted to) probably a bunch of bright childlike flowers...like dafs, sunflowers, big daisies or a bottle of wine....not the most original but always received with a smile!

Tricky one. In some ways it would be lovely to be able to thank her and show how much you value her, but then I think I'd be a little creeped out. Imagine her writing on MN about it: "a mum at work gave me a pressie for my birthday, WWYD?!".

But I do appreciate where your coming from and I think it's really important to show people who make our lives better how much we value them! I

I bought a Christmas present and an Easter Egg for DS's nursery key worker for the same reasons as you. I would also buy her a birthday gift if I knew when it was. She's lovely and DS loves her.

I don't think it would creep her out. In her line of work I would imagine that she totally 'gets' your relief that your dc is settled with her.

Please do get her a present. Lovely.

I don't think it's weird, it's a great way to show your appreciation.
