Nice trip away for a few days, first since dd was born 9 months ago, hotel is lovely BUT there is an air shaft vent fan thing out side our window which seems set to white loudly all night.

Isn't bothering dd or DH but I'm a very light sleeper and know I will be up all night, hence plans to sightsee tomorrow will be ruined by me being too tired.

Not going to disturb dd or DH tonight by ringing down to complain but considering asking to be moved tomorrow- AIBU? It isn't a hugely expensive hotel but I didn't expect to end up wide awake all night :(

do ask, but buy earplugs as a backup.
Never travel without them, the noise in the airplane alone drives me insane.

I'd be in reception ranting and raging like a woman not right possessed. I can't bear to be kept awake and I am an UberBitch when I don't get lots and lots my sleep Blush
I hope you got some sleep Tango and do go and ask to be moved - in fact just calmly explain and tell them to move you Grin

Fleurdebleurgh · 12/07/2012 10:18

I work in the hotel industry and i think you should definitely ask to move.

We have moved people in the middle of the night before if they have found their room unsatisfactory.

whackamole · 12/07/2012 10:56

Definitely ask to move!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/07/2012 10:59

We had this once - hideous. You can't tune out of the noise once it's there. We complained the next morning and the hotel (du vin) were brilliant. They took everything off our bill - room, dinner, the lot and couldn't have been more apologetic.

QuickLookBusy · 12/07/2012 10:59

Definitely ask to move.

Will second the ear plugs. I never go anywhere without them.

Birdsgottafly · 12/07/2012 11:39

Ask to move, there will be many who are not disturbed by the fan and would not mind it at all.

Sleep is an essential requirement.

Tangointhenight · 12/07/2012 21:00

Well I asked and we got moved thank goodness!! Thanks everyone!
