To wear the same suit

I have been a SAHM for 5 years. A part time job opportunity has arisen and today I had an interview for it. Yesterday I bought a lovely suit for the interview, I got it on sale so it was a bargain.
The job is in what is basically a satellite office of a larger London based company. Today I met the main people in the local office. The interview went well and they indicated they would likely bring me back on Thurs to meet the senior guy who is over from London, as well as them again.
The only other suits I own, were bought to fit a before three kids me. The jackets either don't close over my still bf boobs or are very stretched. The trousers are uncomfortably tight.
I can't afford to buy another suit. So what to do? Wear a clearly too small for me suit to meet the ultimate decision maker, or wear the lovely well fitted new suit that the others will have seen me in only three days prior?

Wear the suit. As long as it is clean I don't see the issue. They probably won't even notice.

Johnnydeppsnewmrs · 09/07/2012 17:43

Forgot to add, the last thing you will want to be is self conscious, or uncofortable. That would really show.

BlueFergie · 09/07/2012 17:44

Oh and I can't borrow, because I haven't told anyone about the interview. I am too nervous at the prospect and don't want anyone knowing about it. Except DH and obviously I can't borrow one of his!

Change the blouse and the jewelry, shoes and bag and no one will notice

TequilaMockinBird · 09/07/2012 17:46

Wear the same suit but a different top underneath, or a scarf so that it looks a bit different Wink

Losingitall · 09/07/2012 17:48

Wear the same suit. When I'm interviewing I see that many people I wouldn't notice if a candidate wore the same suit twice.

Good luck x

BlueStringPudding · 09/07/2012 17:49

Definitely wear the same suit again, I doubt they'll notice. If you're still worried, then how about a scarf - which will change your overall "look".

carabos · 09/07/2012 18:05

Wear the same suit, and change the blouse. They won't notice anyway. And the suit itself isn't going to make or break the interview for you.

Kayano · 09/07/2012 18:07

I wear the same interview outfit but with different accessories. Tomorrow I am wearing a white shirt, a black dress and a blue belt and blue shoes

ZillionChocolate · 09/07/2012 18:23

I wear a black suit to work every day. I probably have 20 in total, but I don't change them every day. I think it's normal for people to wear suits more than once. The only thing they're likely to notice is if you turn up in a suit that is too small and therefore looks awful. I agree about wearing a different top/accessories.

Good luck with the interview!

ZillionChocolate · 09/07/2012 18:25

BTW my DH is irrationally prejudiced against chiffony neck scarves. I wonder whether fuss free accessories are the way forward for your meeting. Boss man might be rational though.

angeltattoo · 09/07/2012 18:26

Same suit, not a problem, different top underneath if you think that would help.

Good luck!

eurochick · 09/07/2012 18:26

I wouldn't notice or care if I did if a candiate wore the same suit twice.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2012 19:19

Accessorize. Not the shop, the verb.

squeakytoy · 09/07/2012 19:20

just change the blouse, because if is a plain dark suit, they really will not notice the difference at all..

CurrySpice · 09/07/2012 19:26

What all the others said about swapping the accessories

And all the very best -hope you ace it!!

MammaTJ · 09/07/2012 19:55

I agree and wish you good luck!!

TheSpokenNerd · 09/07/2012 20:00

My mate is a solicitor and rotates two suits only! Yanbu of course...do your hair dfferently or add some diferent bits and bobs.

squeakytoy · 09/07/2012 20:02

The thing to bear in mind too is, they liked what they saw the first time, so stick to that again.

BlueFergie · 09/07/2012 20:07

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the reassurance. It's thirteen years since I left uni and we were warned then to have two suits as wearing the same one twice was a big no-no. Hopefully things have moved on, we were also told not to wear trouser suits!! This was in France though, there was one funny attitudes about women!

Women and their appearance...I meant.

Sallyingforth · 09/07/2012 20:50

OF COURSE you can wear the same suit. It was you they liked and want to see again. As long as you are smart and presentable they won't care which suit you wear. If they interviewed other candidates they won't even remember who was wearing what.
Congratulations on the first successful interview, and good luck for the next one!

maybenow · 09/07/2012 20:55

unless it's cerise or something they'll never notice.

different top, shoes and bag if you can but if you can't don't worry about it.
