To substitute a nap for quiet time with the iPad

Ds1 is 3.5 yrs and at the age where he doesn't always need an afternoon nap but still needs some down time. Usually we turn on a bit of telly and I bf ds2. Recently tho ds2 has become a really distracted feeder / sleeper and won't go off for his sleep unless he's in a quiet dark room. Sometimes ive taken ds1 upstairs and left ds2 watching tv buti havent felt great about him having unsupervised access to the kitchen. Today I decided to give ds1 the iPad (parental locks on) and put him in his room while I fed ds2 to sleep then I had a bit of me time (40 mins). Ds2 was happy as Larry playing cut the rope/ his telling the time game and ABC go but a part of me feels I've committed some huge parenting sin - have I?

No I do this and my DD is 2.5! She has her own iPad with monitored usage. There are plenty of incredibly educational apps your son can use. My 2.5 yr old was using a maths app earlier today teaching her to count apples. She can now do basic sums because of this. I would rather she use the iPad than watch cartoons.

Nothing wrong with it at all, some "chill time" is needed when they have dropped naps and that sounds a great way around it.
