to think this delivery by Royal Mail was daft

I got a text last night to say my Olympic tickets would arrive today. Unfortunately I already had plans that I couldn't change so I went out assuming they would send them to by local sorting office (about a 10 minute drive which I would be fine with). They need a signature which is good as it keeps delivery for them a bit safer.

Got back to find the card to say they'd been delivered but not to my local office as I thought but to my 'local' delivery office 4 and a half hours away! Absolutely rediculous. I now have to arrange redelivery which is difficult with work. They can't deliver a tracked item to an alternative dress. I would have to pay to get it sent to my local office.

Why oh why didn't it just get sent to my local office anyway. Daft, daft, daft. Oh well I'll get them somehow.

No it's not your imagination, they are just stupid sometimes!

JosephineCD · 07/07/2012 14:44

Why is your local delivery office 4 and a half hours away?

alphabite · 07/07/2012 14:47

Exactly Josephine, that's why it's daft.

Where do you live?

confusedpixie · 07/07/2012 14:54

Have they cocked up somehow? A road with a similar name in a different part of the district?! That's an amazing distance to your 'local' according to them Grin/Shock

alphabite · 07/07/2012 14:56

North East. My local office is 10 minutes drive away but they are saying the nearest is in Sheringham which is 4 and a half hour drive (when I google map'd it). Idiots. The only thing I can assume is that all Olympic tickets must be going through Sheringham.

confusedpixie I don't see how they could have cocked up as the red card came to my house.

Good point!

LentillyFart · 07/07/2012 15:09

So just pay to get it redelivered. It's 50p or £1 or something. Make your life easier and quit the fretting.

alphabite · 07/07/2012 15:11

I'm not fretting. I am just once again aghast at how daft some things are! It makes absolutely no sense for my package to do a 9 hour round trip to be redelivered.

I live in the ne and have no idea where sheringjam even is - guessing its Birmingham area?

starfishmummy · 07/07/2012 15:21

I looked it up and Sheringham is in Norfolk. Not exactly my local office!

Maryz that sucks. How are you going to get them?

Gosh if mine get delivered at 6am I won't wake up!

Today they got delivered at 10am.

alphabite · 07/07/2012 16:51

The card got delivered anyway!

We got ours a few weeks ago. I wasn't in, so they went to our local office a 5min walk away and I just signed for themConfused

Christelle2207 · 07/07/2012 17:07

Are you sure it wasn't a mistake about them being sent to Norfolk? You can get them forwarded to any other address near you for free of a post office for £1.50. Pls don't drive to Norfolk!

Christelle2207 · 07/07/2012 17:08

My Olympic tickets went to the local office, so they're not all going to sheringham...

alphabite · 07/07/2012 17:12

How bizarre then Christelle. I can't get them forwarded to any other address as they won't do this for tracked packages. I have asked for them to be redelivered to my house on Tuesday and just have to hope they come earlyish so I can get on with work.

YANBU.

I have complained to a delivery service before when something was delivered at 6am. Surely they're not meant to deliver so early? The complaint was upheld BTW.

Angelico · 07/07/2012 17:16

Maryz you can make a complaint you know if you were in all day. I did before because postman CLAIMED he had tried to deliver them, no one home etc - total bollocks. I was off work sick, sitting in living room in PJs, window open, car in drive etc. No knock at door, no doorbell - obviously just assumed no one home as usually we are both out at work during day. He must have crept across the lawn like a bloody stealth ninja! Confused

Of course maybe sight of me in my PJs dripping with snot turned him on / off too much and he had to hare off to avoid any embarrassment... :o
