Google for anything these days and you just get pages of egotistical anecdotal stream of consciousness.

Or am I just getting old and out of touch? Harrumph.

I love some blogs. My very lovely friend has one and it's a great way to keep up with her and also I love her writing style.

Also text from dog is the funiest thing on the net.

germyrabbit · 30/06/2012 20:51

depends what it's about!! i like the make up blogs, pages and pages about eyeshadows Grin

Tee2072 · 30/06/2012 20:53

Is this thread not an egotistical anecdotal stream of consciousness?

Or, really, all of MN? Or the internet?

maddening · 30/06/2012 20:53

yanbu - you're looking for reliable facts and get irrelevant, unreliable rantings of strangers

EBDTeacher · 30/06/2012 20:59

Yeah, that's how I feel about them maddening.

Maybe I am missing something. Or being egotistical. However, I come to MN expecting opinion. If I google, I don't know, 'angina' I can't really be arsed to wade through 10 pages about how somenbody has been empowered by living with a heart condition. [grumpyoldwoman]

Then Google Angina Wiki or Angina Medical.

See, there's you're problem. Googling without a license.

Tee2072 · 30/06/2012 21:00

Your problem. Too much Wine.

EBDTeacher · 30/06/2012 21:02

Now you're rubbing salt in it Tee because I haven't got any Wine.

OP posts:
EBDTeacher · 30/06/2012 21:05

Oh, I see you were correcting yourself. I thought you were telling me I'd had too much Wine and was therefore incapable of an accurate google and genuinely wondered for a second if you knew me in RL.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 30/06/2012 21:05

Oh, well, there's your total problem right there, then!

Rollmops · 30/06/2012 22:23

I simply can't understand the mindset of pople writing about their mundane little lives. Why?
On the same token, I can't comprehend the need to read such tedious drivel. It screams - get a life, no?!
Same goes for Twitter and FB.
What ever happened to privacy?

Rollmops · 30/06/2012 22:25

Whatever that is. Dodgy keyboard.

Tee2072 · 30/06/2012 22:28

Seriously, how is it any different than coming on MN to "whine" about our "mundane" problems?

The entire Internet is masterbatory,

MightTryAMeiTai · 30/06/2012 22:30

I love crafty blogs that include tutorials for the things they have made so I can make them myself.

I don't like blogs just about people's daily lives but there are some great sewing blogs out there.

WorraLiberty · 30/06/2012 22:31

YANBU, they are imo completely egotistical.

There's a big difference between interacting on an internet forum and writing a load of daily guff, because you think you're so important that other people are going to 'like' your blog and read it keenly.

DamselInTornDress · 30/06/2012 22:34

Blogging has been a way for many aspiring writers to get a break into reaching their dreams.

I love creative writing and poetry blogs.

YABU. Refine your search.

wannaBe · 30/06/2012 22:35

I think it depends. I have a news blog and a blog relating to my business. I see those types of blogs differently to those that say "I woke up this morning, got the kids ready for school, got dressed, went to the parkk," .

But really, a blog about your life isn't that much different to a diary, is it? The only difference is that it's published on a public platform. I have no inclination to read it and I have no idea why anyone would want to write quite so openly on the internet, but each to their own, no?

RedBlanket · 30/06/2012 22:35

I do read some business blogs, people commenting about industry news which is ok, but I don't get the 'today we made cupcakes' personal blogs.

although I am insanely addicted to Teenage girls posting endless pictures of nonsense on Tumblr

Tee2072 · 01/07/2012 08:30

Well, I can't speak for all egotistical bloggers, but I do a personal blog so my far flung family, and I'm talking world wide, can find out, all in one place, what my family and I are up to.

I don't expect or ask anyone else to read it.

So, hey, don't!

No one is forcing you to.

I don't happen to like magazines about race cars. I do not, however, hate them or expect others to not read them just because I don't like them.

And you call me egotistical...

I have an irrational loathing for blogs too.

xDivAx · 01/07/2012 12:08

warren I couldn't help myself, I just had to have a read of your blog, as you so brazenly put a link there! :o

Parking wars is hilarious! I love it and think I would do the same! And your lovely post about your "rock god" was heart warming!
