Is this inappropriate or am just I miserable today?

Next door have guests waiting for them to leave. They are all waiting outside on the shared balcony and there are about 20 of them. Shouting, chatting loudly, slamming the security gate, 4 or 5 kids running up and down the balcony in front of the houses (and bedroom windows) screeching and stomping and it sounds like there's a ball being bounced on someone's wall.

Even if they didn't just wake my baby up from his nap, this would be inappropriate right? There's an enclosed and locked car park downstairs...

Annoying I agree, but take a deep breathe, put the kettle on and maybe some gentle music turned low, so it'll at least distract you from the noise.

It's not worth falling out with the neighbours over this.

valiumredhead · 30/06/2012 13:50

One day it will be your baby making a racket and bouncing a ball against the wall Wink

knittynoodle · 30/06/2012 13:50

And neighbours are taking a loooooooooong time to get ready. Angry

maybe they aren't leaving....I suggest that you go for a walk/park or go visit someone....
it is a bit annoying but you might have ppl round sometime and they will have to hear a certain amount of noise then...

Don't let it get to you....and don't say anything...leave it so you don't make an issue from a 'one off' situ that doesn't happen often...

if the parking is an issue...I'd maybe ask for access if it was hindering you in some way....that's understandable and not unreasonable...neighbour will be apologetic and move cars I'm sure....

Don't stress!! Grin

I understand you finding it annoying, but really, people should be allowed to make some noise as a family outside on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

knittynoodle · 30/06/2012 14:05

Its not the parking, its that there's a large area downstairs that no one ever parks in that's gated and locked so completely safe for kids to play ball in and large enough for 20 people not to have to stand outside my front door and bedroom window (DS has shouted hello to them through the letter box and they answered so they are THAT close)

But I think they are going because a woman is shouting "LETS JUST GO!!!" Grin

Let ds go out and play with them?

knittynoodle · 30/06/2012 14:08

Spatsky, I get that. But in what is the equivalent of your front garden? That would be shitty, right? If I open my bedroom window, I would hit someone with it considers this

It's 2pm on a sunny afternoon OP, not 2am!

howah · 30/06/2012 14:12

We used to live in a block like that. We had about a metre of balcony outside that all the doors opened on too and loads of people would gather in it. YANBU.

Spatsky · 30/06/2012 14:17

Front garden would be your own property so not the same. Thius is a communal balcony that is intended for your shared use (I am assuming) so I think it is unreasonable to expect your neighbours (or their guests) not to use it on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Perhaps I am too soft though. That's just how I would see it. Our neighbours have BBQs all the time with lots of noisy laughing guests but that's fine, it's their garden even though I can hear everything.

AmberLeaf · 30/06/2012 14:20

I don't think its inappropriate at all.

Sounds like its just caught you on an off day.

knittynoodle · 30/06/2012 14:23

Its not a suitable place for a BBQ. It's more than a metre but nothing more than a walkway and place to put pot plants and door mats. The kids cant really play out there without danger of slipping on broken tiles, falling down concrete stairs, glass, nails etc. I doubt you could fit 20 people plus a BBQ out there!

Maybe I am just miserable! Haha!

This would only be inappropriate if it was happening late at night! if you can go out, go out. If not, move away from that side of your flat!
