who 'needs' me more, DS or dh?

dh had major dental surgery today, under sedation
Came home from that and DS (4.5)
has fever. 39.2, went down with calpol, no other symptoms, bit of a cold.

Had already said to dh that I would sleep in spare bed so he could get good nights sleep.
DS Asked me to sleep with him. So we are in the spare bedroom together.
Dh moaned, because he might need some painkillers!
I've left him a drink and ibuprofen and paracetemol.

Aibu to think he can take his own tablets, DS needs me for his medication.

I would stay with DS, but poor DH too.

amistillsexy · 27/06/2012 00:01

Of course yanbu. Dh is a grown up. He will be fine. Hope your ds's temp comes down and you all get some sleep. :-)

squeakytoy · 27/06/2012 00:01

for heavens sakes, your husband is an adult... he can take a painkiller and go to sleep... he does not "need" you!

Socknickingpixie · 27/06/2012 00:01

do you anticipate ds waking up in the night requiring medication?? for a bit of a cold?

either way yanbu dh is a grown up he can get his own but chances are if its just a bit of a cold you probally dont need to fuss so much because all you will do is foster the man flu approach in the future

AdoraBell · 27/06/2012 00:04

DS needs you more because your are his mother. DH, although I do sympathise, isn't living with Mummy anymore and his wife has left 2 types of painkiller within reach, and water with which to take them if needed.

Hope both feel better tomorrow and you get a good night's sleep

HTH

Eh?? Neither. Both will be fine without u. Go to bed fgsakes....

AnyFucker · 27/06/2012 00:08

you need to ask this ? Confused

SoleSource · 27/06/2012 00:10

DS of course!

uselesslife · 27/06/2012 00:11

I am concerned about his temperature coming back up when the calpol wears off. Temp shouldn't be that high just for a cold

Ike1, not majorly serious thread, hence the inverted commas.

I dont have much patience with dh when he is sick cos he moans so much.
Been very patient today though, I need feel sorry for him

I think I just want to sleep next to loving thankful DS, rather than snoring moaning dh!!

I would pick my ds over dh, ... A child's temperature can raise suddenly and if it gets to high can be very serious....

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 11:47

MY dh is going to get this done in august im dreading it as he will be like your DH i guess your dh was feeling a bit woozy and sorry for himself so was wanting a bit of looking after but your son was ill so i think i would have gone with the dc as they do need us much more
