loopylou6 · 26/06/2012 08:37

Have you told HQ?

MyDogShitsMoney · 26/06/2012 08:43

Are you ok with how to get rid of it OP?

MissRepresentation · 26/06/2012 08:45

Nope. I've got decent anti-virus.

MissRepresentation · 26/06/2012 08:46

and this should be in site stuff.

TheSpokenNerd · 26/06/2012 09:02

This has happened to me too....and with the Daily Fail!

NicholasTeakozy · 26/06/2012 09:02

The only people who get these on MN are those without a decent ad blocker.

HecateAdonaea · 26/06/2012 09:04

no, I've got kaspersky and that is very good at intercepting stuff.

Whatmeworry · 26/06/2012 09:05

I dont think MN is infected, are you clicking off onto Ad-sites or links people put up?

oreocrumbs · 26/06/2012 09:05

It happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I was using my parents laptop. I got wrong Sad. Doesn't happen on my own laptop.

I shall tell them its their fault for not having a decent ad blocker!

dikkertjedap · 26/06/2012 09:28

Yes, I did click on several links in posts. Several of the links did not work. Then I got a suspicious message that my computer was infected and whether I wanted it cleaned which was most definitely not my own anti-virus programme (McAfee). I ran McAfee which has diagnosed a big problem and shut down. Off to computer shop now.

TBH you probably don't need a computer shop, I had a big bastard of a virus a few weeks ago (thank to stbXh) and with a little MN help got rid of it completely.

The thing with malware is generally they disable your own anti-virus. Start the computer back up in safe mode, then just do an ordinary system restore to the earliest possible date.

That should get rid of it.

KellyElly · 26/06/2012 11:36

Yes me too.

Pandemoniaa · 26/06/2012 11:48

Your thread title is rather misleading. I'm willing to bet that you've followed a dodgy link rather than being infected directly from this site. I'm really cautious about clicking on links in posts. Especially if there's no real description of where you might be going. Instead I hover over them and make my decision from what the URL shows up.
