It is clearly operating as a trigger word and must be avoided, if the integrity of the space-time continuum is to be preserved.

YANBU. Ending sentences with lol feels as if the poster is trying a bit too hard - that person who's pasted a big, strained smile on their face to hide the fact that they feel uncomfortable.
