Ive posted recently re passive aggressive statis uodates on FB and how I loarhe the vagueness if them. Not so much an AIBU - more of an "if you could bear to post a passive aggressive status update on FB today - what would that be? I'm sorely resisting posting on Facebook but feel the need to dump my own passive aggressive status (somewhere) hypocrite-me?-absolutely!

  1. 365 days is too long - go now!
  2. Dropped! Shame-not ..
  3. You really need to question yourself as to why its always someone else and not you
  4. Oh ffs not again - get over yourself ..
  5. I'm not. Really. I'm not at all.

"Forgot them AGAIN!"

No sympathy here.
If you really have to live your life through FB then you deserve any problems you get.
Some of us manage very nicely without it.

PatheticTrumpet · 20/06/2012 17:39

...... Yes I suppose some of us presumably you do manage to live your lives very nicely without it (FB)... but at the same time live their lives through MN instead : don't see the difference tbh - maybe you are trying to patronise me?

Its the photos accompanied by 'hmmm bacon sandwich' that does my head in. I know what one looks like. I know what it tastes like, I do not need to know your dietry requirements. This will be followed by "hmm, DH made me a cup of tea, Im so spoiled".

Sallyingforth · 20/06/2012 17:50

Trumpet
There is absolutely no comparison between making anonymous unattributable comments on MN, and exposing intimate details of your real life of FB.
If you use FB you have to accept the way it works. You can't simply name change as you can here.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 20/06/2012 17:54

You are seriously getting carried away with the strike out function Trumpet. Maybe time to step away from the dashes.

PatheticTrumpet · 20/06/2012 19:05

Lol. I do don't I ! (sorry)

I like this thread. I'm far too much of a coward to post most of what I'd like on Facebook. Passive or not!

I'd put :

Im sti here. Still waiting to be made homeless. Still having a shit time. Still wishing I had some real friends who would care.

I like faceb

Matesnotdates · 20/06/2012 19:24

Bugger. I like facebook too for same reasons: keeping in touch with far away friends and family, posting photos of the children and having a general nose at old friends.

Those pa updates make me grrrrrr too. Trying too hard to be women of mystery.

Matesnotdates · 20/06/2012 19:25

sallyingforth not quite sure how you extrapolated that op is living her life through Facebook. We're you being a tad presumptuous?

Matesnotdates · 20/06/2012 19:26

Were. Auto correct nonsense.

IHeartOldYork · 20/06/2012 19:39

A 'friend' recently updated her status to say how irritating she found it when people added pics of their babies and wrote things about them. I am one of those people. Like others, I like to share pics and what not with family and friends and fb is a nice way to do so. I can understand some of my fb contacts might not be interested but you can always hide updates from people even if you might want/ need to stay in contact with them for whatever reason.

The fact is people post about what is currently going on in their lives. This particular person keeps posting pics of the rather dull and uninspiring interior of her new flat. I was irritated by her baby-hating status but pleased I have something a bit more exciting than a bedroom wall to post about.

It took all my will power not to post a pa retort as my status. It has also prompted me to review my 'friends' list :)
