Inspired by another thread and I'm just wondering if anyone is weird like me. I was badly bullied in school and now as an adult if I meet someone with the same name as the girl,I find it very difficult to warm to them.
I would never be nasty or mean or unkind but I would feel a bit prickly around them.

Bullying can scar for life, that's for sure.
I think you get over it when you meet new people with same name but completely different personalities.

I know a lovely lady with the same name. She is really nice but I just can't embrace her friendship like I should.

Dh wanted to call ds Louise but there was no was as there was a Louise who was a real cow to me at primary school!!

If ds had been a girl that is!

I don't think that's weird, I think that's normal!

I was at university with a woman I really didn't like. Years later, when I moved to the place I now live and had my DD, another mum said I should really meet a friend of hers who I would definitely get on with. This woman had exactly the same first name and last name as the woman I didn't like at uni, so I put off meeting her for ages, only to find when I did finally meet her that she was absolutely lovely. Since then, she's been one of my closest friends, and her DD is one of my DD's closest friends.

It's funny, though - at the time I never stopped to think "You are being completely irrational", even though I was.

I cannot bring myself to like anyone named Christine. (Sorry if you are one, but please don't tell me so, it would put me off you forever, really.)

valium Same here,I really liked the name Alana for DC1 but DH used to work with a girl called that who was a nasty cow. He just couldn't get past the whole name association thing.

OP YANBU, bullying often leaves deep mental scars for years if not life. I was bullied by a big group of girls for years and now find big groups of women really hard to approach. Probably sounds silly to others but I find it so intimidating.
