Just seen a man climb over the garages into my downstairs neighbors garden. I went out to see what he was doing and he had opened the back door and was taking off he's shoes before entering. I called out and asked what he was doing and he said he lives there which is why he knew the back door was open. He then took he's shoes in and closed the door.

I don't know the neighbors so have no idea if he was telling the truth or not but it sounds plausible to me but I don't know if I should call the police just in case

I'd be impressed if a burglar took his shoes off first! Sounds fine to me.

FriedSprout · 11/06/2012 19:23

Why on earth would he climb over garages to enter? I would give the police a ring? very strange

feedmecake · 11/06/2012 19:23

I wouldn't have thought burglars take their shoes off before entering. He probably forgot his keys.

hiddenhome · 11/06/2012 19:24

Or, it could be that he doesn't want to leave treadmarks from a shoe.

ZhenThereWereTwo · 11/06/2012 19:26

Wet shoes leave footprints that can be used as evidence, he could be taking them off for that reason. If you do not recognise him then you should call police, better they check it out and it be nothing than your neighbours come back to find all their things gone.

BadNails · 11/06/2012 19:27

Did you see the man leave?

stargazer83 · 11/06/2012 19:32

No I've not seen him leave but I've been watching the front. He wasn't wearing gloves and had to walk across the mud so I would doubt he'd be worried about forensics??

In the time between your original post and your last one, the burglary would be complete. If you're going to call, do it soon.

Birdsgottafly · 11/06/2012 19:37

Can you walk past the house?

Most thieves are caught by footprints.
