Aw Smile

Quite apt considering they will decimate the local wildlife when they grow up.

redexpat · 11/06/2012 11:00

We had a rabbit called Jack the Ripper. Did not like to be cuddled.

Assuming this is a Natural Born Killers reference - I think fictional serial killers are fine :)

I thought NBK was based on real characters?

Quite possibly I'm totally wrong though Grin

The charactures were loosley based on Charles Sarkweather and Caril Fugate, parts of the film were based on real events.

It was aimed at the US's fasination with mindless violence, at the time, which isn't what cats are about, they are ultimate hunting machines.

It won't matter to the cats what they are called, you can call themwhat you want.

AdventuresWithVoles · 11/06/2012 11:36

Never a truer word was said. Wink

EarnestDullard · 11/06/2012 12:31

Well cats are natural born killers, so it's quite apt in a way. I know someone who had a tank full of fish named after racial epithets, in comparison I'd say naming after fictional serial killers is not offensive.

Toaster24 · 11/06/2012 12:49

It's witty.

ThatllDoPig · 11/06/2012 12:59

I think its a bit strange really, but then I always take things too seriously. There is a sliding scale and most people would be offended somewhere on the line, for instance, would you call your kittens Adolf and Myra? It belittles and makes fun and wit out of something really nasty.

But there has always been black humour. It has its place, but is very subjective.

I remember reading somewhere that the writers of Gavin and Stacy got some bad press for naming the two families Shipman and West along the same kind of lines.

Mrsjay · 11/06/2012 13:09

My friends cats are ronnie and reggie Grin amused me,

Mondayschild78 · 11/06/2012 13:28

No it's not Bickle [Smile]

Latara · 11/06/2012 14:10

My cat has a pretty girly name.
When she's bad it gets changed to Mini-Monster. Or Monster Munch.
You could do a similar thing...
better than permanently naming 2 innocent (so far) fluffy kittens after serial killers :)
So 2 nice names, & 2 'evil' nicknames - think Jekyll & Hyde!!

Latara · 11/06/2012 14:14

Eg girl kitten:
'Good' name - Tara
'Evil' name for when she kills birds / shreds the sofa: - Tara Terror

Boy kitten: Lucas... & Lucifer!

You can probably think of better evil names but that's the general idea anyway.

toomuchtoyoung · 11/06/2012 14:54

May be a bit weird but I didnt mind ronnie and reggie names of 2 kittens!
My blood did run cold when a man registered his rabbits - fred and Rose and commented 'yes as in West, the child killers'. Was very uneasy and thought that was sick.
Your names are fine IMO, never heard of them tbh!

NortyNancy · 11/06/2012 14:55

My mate had a hamster called Sid Vicious. It was.
