to expect a new tyre to last more than a week?

Changed a tyre last week at a reputable tyre garage. It had a slow puncture.
New tyre was middle of the range, cost me £60.

It's been on exactly a week, and I have a .....slow puncture. Again.

AIBU to take it back? Or have I just been unlucky?

I await the MN jury.

It might be the valve on it, not the tyre itself, take it to another garage and explain its a new tyre so can they check the valve, id say take it to the original garage but they sound like theyre ripped you off into buying a brand new tyre when all you needed was a £10 air valve.

VIX, thank you. I'll do exactly that.

What if it IS the valve? Challenge the old garage? Or leave it be?

Thanks.

Have asked my DH.On older wheal rims, they can carode and leak air,so it may not be the actual tyre itself that is the problem,
Dh says take it back to the original place, tell them what has happened, and they should have a look at things again and should be free of charge.
DH says,if you go to another garage, they will charge you for whatever they do there.

OK. Will do. Going to inflate the tyre in a bit and go this morning. Thanks!

DH says take proof of purchase,or invoice, with you

Had this on my motorbike.

Ended up having to pay for a new wheel not just a new tyre due to corrosion.

Lets hope it is just the valve and cheaper!

Ah they were great in fairness. I stood over the mechanic as he pulled off the wheel
And took a look. He found a
Bloody great big nail - bang in the centre of the tyre.

He fixed it free of charge Grin
