We have just found out that DPs little brother who's 12 has cancer. We were told there was a small chance a couple of weeks ago and turns out it is cancer.

They say he should be fine but needs a second op and chemo i can not believe it, my grandad died of cancer 4 months ago so everyone is very aware that sometimes they can't save you (we were told grandad has a good chance and was dead within 4 months)

He has no idea yet is sitting on the sofa playing xbox happy as larry and i can hardly look at him. MIL had to drop him here because she is so upset and didn't want to scare him. She is waiting until she see's the consultant on monday to tell him because he will have questions and she has no answers just a breif call from hospital.

sorry this is a ramble but am just so OMG and have to prentend everything is fine in RL.

Really sorry to ear that Lola. My wee brother had no chance but if they say your dp's brother should be fine then you need to believe it. There is cause for optimism.

And you didn't ramble.

A grandad of someone who has kids is quite elderly and vulnerable, therefore they will not throw as much at them to make them well in the fear it will kill them! A 12 year old should be fairly robust and more able to take what is thrown at them! Seriously, they will do all that they can!!
All the very best! xx

I am so sorry to hear this news. I know from personal experience how frightening this can be for ALL involved - a close friend of mines little sister was diagnosed with non Hodgkins at the age of 4 and it was a very hollow scary time for everyone! Try and remain positive - he has been diagnosed now so will receive all the expert care he needs - pull on all the resources available to you and don't push away any offers of help.

My thought are with you all at this time - try and stay strong but don't be afraid to cry - and TALK - that's very important !
