it's going to be really busy isn't it?

it'smy only day off with the DCs in the school holiday, I've promised them a trip out and they have requested the zoo which I have no problem with -but on a bank holiday???

I'm mad aren't I?

My mum went today and said it wasn't that busy considering it was a bank holiday.

Go early so you don't have to park miles from the entrance and take a picnic. And have a lovely day.

3monkeys · 04/06/2012 22:02

It'll be fine. Have a fab time!

OpheliaBumps · 04/06/2012 22:08

It'll be fine, even when it's busy it still feels like there's room to move iykwim. We're members so go a lot, and I've never seen it so busy that you can't get close enough to see anything, although the dinosaurs do get v busy, so go early and see them first!

workshy · 04/06/2012 22:11

thanks for that about teh dinosaurs -not been for a couple of years so not seen them

went in the summer holidays last time and it was so busy you couldn't get anywhere near the viewing windows for the orangutans or the jaguar :-(

Get there before 10 to park near the door and go straight to the dinosaurs - it'll be fine .

MeconiumHappens · 04/06/2012 22:22

It'll be great! The new bat cave is fucking scary really good!

AtLongLast · 04/06/2012 22:24

We're members too so go a fair bit. People seem to head for the monkey / orangutans first so it can be worth heading to the far side (painted dogs etc) first and work backwards. It was fairly busy the other weekend but I agree that most areas rarely feel packed.

squeakytoy · 04/06/2012 22:26

might not be that bad if a lot of people are doing jubilee related stuff, I am thinking of going to Thorpe Park if the weather isnt too crappy

emsyj · 04/06/2012 22:26

It's going to bucket down so probably won't be that bad. It's so big that you rarely feel crowded - just the restaurants might be quite busy.

Thetokengirl · 04/06/2012 22:28

Dinosaurs??? I thought they were extinct!
I used to work there in the holidays when I was a student and never saw a T. Rex wandering around.
Think I need to visit with the DS's now though.Grin

workshy · 04/06/2012 22:43

local weather says showers, I can cope with that lol

OpheliaBumps · 04/06/2012 22:47

thetokengirl they've got a temporary exhibition of animatronic dinosaurs, they're great but the terrify my DS! Last time we went DH took DD through the dinosaurs while DS looked at the komodo dragon, which is a bit less scary Grin. They're fab for kids, they squirt water at you!
