Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen, or if not to warn that this can happen!

Over the past 6 months I have had four different companies [well known companies] that I have shopped with over the internet not pay back a refund onto my card.

I have sent back unwanted items, the companies have acknowledged receipt of these items and stated a refund of X would be put back on my card.

However when I get around to checking my bank statement I discover that the refund payment has not registered.

Then I ring the company concerned to be told oh an error seems to have occurred, not sure why the payment hasn't been put on your card, will do so now.

Two companies were very apologetic and bemused as to how the mistake had happened. The other two were very blase and minimal apology, just seemed to think all was fine because they were now going to fix the issue for me.

However if I had not carefully checked my statements [which I sometimes forget to do tbh] and picked up these errors I would then have never been refunded! And one of these refunds was worth £120 so not inconsequential amounts either!

So I guess I also wanted to warn all of you who internet shop to check your statements carefully as I wonder how often these refunds are failing to be paid.

Thanks RaPa - hasn't happened to me yet, but will keep an eye out on my monthly statement review.
