To allocate time slots for deliveries or AIBU???

I have sat in all day for a furniture delivery that is still not here at almost 5pm.
Surely if Tesco etc can give time slots everyone can do it - it's not rocket science :(

Cabin fever might be getting to me.

I am with you, 100%.
I now try to ask for a more specific time and then tell them I have plans - doesn't always work but they don't want to waste time sending people out to us if we are not in so it can prompt them to give me more info (you are third on the delivery list so we reckon we'll be with you around....).

It sometimes works if you give them a mobile number and you can hot-foot it home to meet the delivery driver if you're elsewhere.

BT can come out 8-1 or 1-5. Crap if you need to do the school run. Hmm

I am so with you on this one!!
I gave just waited in for 3 days for a parcel which for the 1st and 2nd days was showing as 'on van for delivery' then didn't show up. Grrr 10 calls to an Indian call centre and it finally shows up at 6pm today..... What a waste of my time! Luckily I work from home so wasn't as bad as it could have been!

YAsoNBU! What really peeves me is when they give a really long slot (eg. the 12 - 6pm slot we were given a few months back) and they turn up AFTER the slot, with no notice or explaination (8pm in our case - grrrrr)

To be fair, some companies are getting to be really good. We've had 2 Argos deliveries recently - both were for a reasonable time slot, which they then narrowed for us by text on the day, and they then phoned up an hour in advance to say exactly when they'd be there - and they were on time! (and delivered into the room we wanted - gym equipment, so heavy stuff!) - why can't they all be like that? :)

yanbi - I had one once where the delivery slot was 8am-9pm!

I think, the problem is that they don't arrange the visits in location order. The drivers can sometimes travel for miles, which isn't very productive. If they knew that X, Y, and Z needed to be in Leeds on the 31st, then they should be able to give you a guestimate as to what time they can be with you. Some people will take up more time than others though.
