AIBU to think I am pregnant?

FGS somebody slap me. I had unprotected sex (with my DH!) at the weekend, by accident (drunk - oops). It was a couple of days before my fertile time (according to this calculator thing that I found online). Why didn't I go and get the morning after pill, why? Now I am sitting here stressed out that I am pregnant.

It was a one off, not my fertile time, I am old (37), the chances are slim right? So why do I imagine that I feel 'different', its a long time until the 14th June when my next period is due!

God you'd think I was 16!!

Well, it was at the weekend, its nearly this weekend, from about next Wednesday you can buy a First Response test (pink packaging) and if you wee on that and see no line you can be pretty sure that you are not pregnant.

Your mind will convince you you are if you are worried you are - fact is, you might be, you might not be, and there's nowt you can do until about Wednesday to know either way.

The chances are sort of slim statistically that at 37 you'd get pregnant from one indiscretion at the right time - but probably still 1 in 4 chance like anyone, perhaps less due to age. You are statistically more likely to not get pregnant from that one encounter than you are to get pregnant, if that makes sense, though that applies to any one sexual encounter.

Give us an update!

Ooh, I suppose its possible. Would it be a nice surprise if you were? 37 not old, I got pg with dd first cycle of trying at 37, after mc also at 37. Its a good age to have a baby Smile

shelley72 · 31/05/2012 12:03

Oops, don't panic, I only got pg once at 37, 36 when we mc. I was lucky to fall quickly tho, given my age.

OatcakeCravings · 31/05/2012 12:12

Shite - chances are I'm not though, only a tiny chance I am. That's better, my mind is playing tricks on me, making me feel 'different'!

The world wouldn't end if I was, just it would be a financial disaster and we are happy as we are with one DS.

Right I will away and spend the weekend eating brie, pate and prawns just in case!

Yes, odds are you won't be. Keep us updated!

Keep us udated on this one. I fell preggers first time of trying at 38 so you can never go with the age thing...

BarredfromhavingStella · 31/05/2012 13:15

I'll throw a spanner in the works-ds was the result of unprotected sex a few days before the supposed fertile period........

shelley72 · 31/05/2012 13:35

well, yes, i think that sperm can live for 3 to 5 days cant they? so its definitely possible. no need to worry too much yet though...

SlipperyNipple · 31/05/2012 13:41

Could well be. I fall pregnant easily and I am old.

belledidlovesebastian · 31/05/2012 13:42

Me too. My 7 week old DD is a result of some 'afternoon delight'! I was so convinced I was in my safe period that i didn't take the morning after pill. Oh and I was 39!

stoatie · 31/05/2012 13:49

er - will soon be going out to collect DD2 (now aged 8) who was the result of a tad too much alcohol on Boxing Day - also convinced I was in safe period - and I was 37 Blush

She is a much loved addition to the family and is adored by her older siblings (bit of a hefty gap of 11 and 7 years)

shelley72 · 31/05/2012 13:58

Ok stop it no. you're making ME worry a bit. Have not been so careful this month either as thinking was a safe time, and getting on a bit now 39 so not that likely is it Shock
