forgot it was there, it's dated use by 24 May. It's just sitting in the fridge taunting me, and it's just not any old cheesecake but a Taste The Difference one - what a waste, do you think it would finnish me off if I finished it off first?

Don't know if YABU but do let us know if you stay up all night throwing up. Protein poisoning is a bitch Smile

Oooo I am very blase about use by dates but that is a long time past!

Try a tiny little bit and see if it tastes rank.

Hownoobrooncoo · 30/05/2012 22:39

Could always try it out on the kids first I suppose...

I can't believe how often these sorts of threads come up - are you really so obsessed with 'sell by dates' that you can't just use common sense and make a decision for yourself?

I am much older than most mumsnetters and - do you know what? We all grew up and managed to live quite happily before 'use before dates' etc.

Sorry if I sound grumpy ......... would love some cheesecake Grin !

I bought a Taste the Difference New York cheesecake which was 'reduced for quick sale' because it had reached its sell-buy date.

We had it that evening so it should have been fine, but it had a stale taste, so I doubt yours will be very palatable, quite apart from the health risk.

I'd force it down, though - I'm dead mean and won't waste anything.

I dunno.. I normally dont take too much notice, but a week out of date for a dairy product, I probably wouldnt eat it.

Hownoobrooncoo · 30/05/2012 23:26

You can all sleep easy, have decided to bin it and do my recently expanding waistline a favour... Unless there are any (risk) takers out there I could pass it on to!
