How hard is it to understand the difference between your and you're, to and too, there and their. I really have to stop myself from typing a correction to incorrect Facebook messages or suchlike...it really irritates me. Or should I type "irritate's me" (punctuation misuse annoys me almost as much...)

happyhopefulmummy · 25/05/2012 21:04

Good Lord. I haven't but it looks like I've found my new favourite place! Thank you :)

I have been known to take a poster off the wall in Natwest bank and hand it to the manager when I was meeting him. I tend to read everything and proofread but I think lots of people make typos. You are sounding a wee but pedantic.

startail · 25/05/2012 21:06

It isn't difficult, even my dyslexic brain Knows the difference.

However, somehow when typing on an iPods little keyboard it all goes to potBlush

MiniTheMinx · 25/05/2012 21:07

see, a typo?

I can never help myself posting when a thread looking down on other peoples spelling and grammar comes up Grin

I'm sure someone will be along in a min to point out any mistakes you've made in your posts, I'm too thick to Grin

BumpingFuglies · 25/05/2012 21:11

Dunno, but there should have been a question mark at the end of your first sentence. Innit.

happyhopefulmummy · 25/05/2012 21:12

Bumping, you are correct. I is a thicko. :o

Have a look at the Grammarly page on FB
(done with a bit of wit and style. )

Personally, I know the difference between them all and don't have to think twice about using the right one. My brother is a pendant on Facebook and he really annoys me when he insists on correcting every single post that someone has written with a grammatical error in it. To the point that if I've typed something quickly and made an error, I quickly delete it and repost correctly, before he sees it!

Frankly, he makes me feel like a useless lump of shit. The message still gets through, even if you have read between the lines, as it were, to make it make sense.

I can't stand pendants who correct other people's typing. Not necessary. It just makes the typer look like a dick and the pendant look like a nob. You wouldn't do it in rl conversation, so why bother about it in type?

(Anyone that wants a chat on hear, who worries about there spelling, look out for me. I dont care! WinkGrin)

manicbmc · 25/05/2012 21:31

How long has he been a pendant? Does he swing? Grin
