Summer Style

AIBU to think that those french knicker style denim shorts (NOT hotpants) are going just a bit too far? The ones that go up in a v shape on the bum and reveal half the person's arse?

The comfort of your own garden is one thing, but showing literally half your arse while walking around the supermarket?!

I can see my DP doing a lot of head-swivelling this summer when he sees a pair of those walk past! As for me, I'm still trying to get my head around why anyone would wear beige colour, thin leggings with a short top Shock I saw this on someone just this morning - you could almost see the pores in her skin through them Shock Shock Shock

Is there no end to the fashion horror?

ENormaSnob · 25/05/2012 15:16

I saw them on a young lass during the march heat wave.

Not a good look IMO.

She was about 14 and literally half her arse was on display.

IAmNotACowbag · 25/05/2012 15:18

EXACTLY ENorma!

On my lunch break today I was treated to the sight of a semi naked man shopping in tesco. I mean, he could have popped a tshirt on to do the shop.

There's just something not right about going to the shops semi naked in my book.

I'm surprised at the supermarket allowing him in topless!

Mind you I was in a Tesco Express at lunchtime a few weeks ago and a very drunk man was wondering around pulling stuff off the shelves and generally being a bit intimidating. I told the security guy but he didn't seem bothered then a couple of minutes later just saw drunk man staggering out of his own accord Confused

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 25/05/2012 15:23

I think they are great if you are 19 with an arse to crack walnuts.

However, with my arse and age there is no way in hell they would be worn by me.

Still think they are nice though, if worn by the right person.

catinboots · 25/05/2012 15:30

Well if I had the figure for it I'd bloody wear them Grin

Petsinmypudenda · 25/05/2012 15:32

catinboots - me too, In fact if I could pull it off I would wear a skimpy bikini all year round.

goingeversoslowlymad · 25/05/2012 15:34

There were two women with shorts like that on at DC's sports day this week. They did have the figure to carry them off but seriously, time and a place and all of that. The head teachers face was a picture lol, well one of them was also wearing a cropped t-shirt too!

limitedperiodonly · 25/05/2012 15:36

I used to wear shorts like that. Why not? You're a long time old and saggy.

Recently my mum brought round a pair of red leather ones that were my most prized garment in the summer of '85.

Before that I thought I was wearing well. Grin

IAmNotACowbag · 25/05/2012 15:38

pets Even the dead of winter Shock

I am such a victorian prude I tells ya

OP posts:
Petsinmypudenda · 25/05/2012 15:40

Aye even in winter!
I would wear my bikini with snow boots hat, gloves and scarf!

Glittertwins · 25/05/2012 15:42

They're a bit too high cut for my liking but sadly for me, I do not have the figure to carry them off at all.

IAmNotACowbag · 25/05/2012 15:42

Oooo and a fur coat for cold snaps. It would HAVE to be a gold bikini.

OP posts:
NoVeggiesBeforeEggies · 25/05/2012 15:43

I'd wear them, if I wasn't a million stone overweight.

There was a woman in tesco earlier with her 2 children, one a baby and she was all toned and tanned and gorgeous and wearing very short shorts.
I hated her (not really!)

GobblersKnob · 25/05/2012 15:49

I encountered a pair yesterday in my local shops.

All those who are saying they would wear them, I don't think you are apreciating how skimpy they are. The ASOS ones just look like short Daisy Dukes.

The ones I saw being worn yesterday were just denim pants, half of the arse cheek was exposed. Think fairly revealing bikini bottoms, then make it in denim then put it in Tesco's.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

IAmNotACowbag · 25/05/2012 15:51

gobblersknob the ones you saw are the exact ones I meant! I couldn't find a better pic earlier, I thought maybe they looked more covered on the ASOS model as she's such a tiny ASS! (Geddit?) Grin

Come back leggings! All is forgiven!

GobblersKnob · 25/05/2012 16:00

Yy IAmNotACowbag am grinning away at everyone who thinks they or their dd would pop em on.

Ladies we are talking these modelled beautifully here.

Also like this though at least the woman I saw yesterday had a top on.

ENormaSnob · 25/05/2012 16:12

Lol at abs.

Honestly, I like denim shorts but these are like tight French knickers and cover about 3 square inches more than a thong would.

No way would I, or my dd, would be exposing so much cheek.

bettybat · 25/05/2012 16:51

Gobblers hahaha loved the first picture, very cute Wink

But the second pair - that's just a denim bikini bottom, right? Right?? Not that a denim bikini is ever right, but those aren't shorts...surely?

GobblersKnob · 25/05/2012 17:02

They are ex-shorts, betty, check out the hanging out pockets.

The ones I saw being worn yesterday were a fraction and only a fraction bigger.
