Just had an email with all the latest concerts etc locally. Madonna is playing at the NIA which is in Birmingham with prices starting at £55 (not too bad) £95 (starting to get a bit expensive) £125 (too expensive) and £175 (you must be having a laugh!)

With all the booking fees and extras two seats in the gods at the side come to £277.25! Think the £55 ones must be under the stands at the back!

I suppose if you are a die hard fan you would pay. I quite like her but would no way pay those extortionate prices.

YANBU But someone will buy the £175 tickets and flog them on E-Bay for £500. Where there's a market there's a price-tag.

TidyDancer · 24/05/2012 18:16

I wouldn't pay 2p to see Madonna, but generally speaking, YANBU.

Some gigs are getting ridiculous in price, the O2 Arena in particular seems to overcharge massively.

having been feeding a family of four on JSA for the last three months these prices look astronomical to me... But then, if there's a market...

you can't compare Dubai prices though, my brother lives there and makes 10 grand a month, I don't know anyone in his profession in the UK that makes this sort of money (and surely my brother wouldn't), so if you think what the average european, american or arab person makes there the money for these tickets is peanuts.

kelly14 · 25/05/2012 16:41

Not really its all relative!, my brother and parents are on alot more than that a month just to give perspective view and believe me i want for nothing in life , but why just because they earn alot more should they have to pay alot more for the same show just because they live in dubai?! this is my view not theres btw!

DukeHumfrey · 25/05/2012 16:50

YANBU - who has that sort of money to spend on a gig especially of Madonna, FFS?

CrispyCod · 25/05/2012 17:14

I'd love to see Madonna but the ticket price was so high it made me very very Angry. It's just pure greed at the end of the day.

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn · 25/05/2012 17:21

I went to Live Aid in 1985 and paid £25 for my ticket! I remember David Bowie's 'Serious Moonlight' tour and the 'Tattoo You' Stones tickets cost me less than that. Seems prices haven't increased that much over 25-30 years. Maybe its the price in relation to monthly income which seems disproportionate.

I also despise these corporate/hospitality packages. The second Live Aid had this 'golden circle' near the stage which was more expensive. Many corporate guests on these jollies don't give a toss for what they are seeing/listening to. They are not die hard fans.

Biggest source of rage? Hearing that Paris Effing Hilton requested and received free tickets to the Led Zeppelin gig at the O2. Absolutely disgusting (espec as she is not a fan, she just wanted to be at the happening gig) and an insult to their devoted fans, who have made them very very wealthy and who couldn't get tickets.

wheresthepopcorn · 25/05/2012 22:20

Madonna stopped caring about her fans long ago and therefore I've stopped caring about going to see her in concert.
