To be annoyed with my local ASDA

(1) no baby seat trolleys - so I had to put DD,in in her carseat, in a shallow trolley
(2) due to baby in trolley, shopping was shoved all round and on her
(3) NO bagged salads
(4) NO staff on the checkouts. I had the option of either the cigarette/booze counter (where the man in front was actually being scolded for using it when he didnt want ciggies or booze) OR the self checkout which, with about 30 items, and a baby, I didn't particularly want.
(5) told by a staff member to use the self checkout, that I had too much stuff for the ciggies counter
(6) I asked why there were no checkouts open to be told "the big people at ASDA say we shouldn't open them if it's not necessary"....hmmm....the 12 people queuing at the ciggy counter and the people behind me waiting for the self serve would indicate it would be better to open another till
(7) when I asked how come they didnt have any trolleys with a baby seat they told me the one they had had been stolen and they hadn't got it replaced.

All in all, bit of an annoying trip out, really.

Oh, and when I went to replace the trolley, they are up on a bit of kerb which and empty trolley would probably bump up, but one with a helfty baby in just banged into. No flattened bit of kerb, so had to hoik the front of the trolley up.

I need Wine but as it is early Ill settle for Brew

Grr, how irritating. Brew

starfishmummy · 21/05/2012 16:13

This is why I don't go to Asda!

CuppaTeaJanice · 21/05/2012 16:19

They must be very variable because ours is fab - really helpful staff and good facilities. They even followed up a complaint when some childless twat in a big van parked across 2 p&c spaces.

MaisyMooCow · 21/05/2012 16:26

My local Asda is great too. It's not as big as the other stores so the choice of products isn't that good but the staff are always helpful.

McHappyPants2012 · 21/05/2012 16:31

My local asda is over run with baby trolleys and always have checkout staff, tend not to shop there as I spend too much money on things I don't need

ProcrastinateWildly · 21/05/2012 16:33

Yes it sounds crap. Is it a really tiny one or something. My local one is massive, and the staff are really nice and helpful.

LadySybilPussPolham · 21/05/2012 16:35

Complain in writing - copies to head office and the store

LadySybilPussPolham · 21/05/2012 16:36

...sounds like a crap store manager

duckdodgers · 21/05/2012 16:37

Sounds rubbish, but not generally my experiences in all my local Asdas thankfully. Never have to queue long, in fact they have some poor soul wondering around with a giant finger pointer to show you where the available checkout is Grin

LST · 21/05/2012 16:40

I love Asda. That one sounds crap though.

My DP works at Asda and there store is always having visits to make sure they keep there high standards.

Popoozle · 21/05/2012 16:44

Like other posters, our local Asda has lots of baby trolleys and there are usually plenty of checkouts open.

Even late in the day, you can usually get a decent selection of fresh veg, fruit & salads.

I hope it's a really teeny, tiny one to only have one baby trolley! I would shop elsewhere if you have another option.

greensnail · 21/05/2012 16:52

My local asda used to drive me mad as I could never find a trolley with 2 toddler seats although they had hundreds with 2 baby seats. Didn't make any sense to me at all.

GnocchiNineDoors · 21/05/2012 16:58

Well, this is the nearest one, and I wanted dinner for tonight (have an online shop coming tomorrow); nappies; few other bits. Therefore I went to this local small store (maybe 10 aisles? but longer than average aisles, to give an idea) rather than the superstore which is double the journey.

Obviously I expect it to have less stuff, but surely a little bit of most things rather than just none of stuff. Fwiw, there's about 3000 varieties of cereal Hmm silly me for needing the wrong things Grin

Another reason for not going to the superstore is I end up meandering the clothes and come out with stuff I really don't need.

I love asda's childrens clothes Grin but HATE their minced beef Envy as it's full of shit gristle and other yuk stuff (even the so-called lean mince).

The staff are friendly and chatty too, and loads of trolleys. The thing I like about asda trolleys are the brakes on them!

TheMonster · 21/05/2012 19:09

Sounds like a rubbish trip. COmplain and get a voucher from them.
