I have been sick all weekend. DH has been away so I've coped with the kids alone - when I could raise my head from the toilet bowl :(

2 weeks ago, I looked after DH when he was Ill. He has just texted me to say he feels queasy, too :( :(

Naturally, I'm sorry for him, but AIBU to wish he could look after me for once? :(

And yes, I'm well aware that me being poorly is colouring my judgement and I'm probably BU

I am too :( we all are in fact
dp went to work though, so now he will now need more looking after and cushion plumping and lemsips

Mrsmuppethead · 20/05/2012 17:09

He can't help it, but no ,you are not being unreasonable..it's horrid when there is no one to look after you and the one person you are counting on calls in sick too! Good reason to feel grumpy anf hard done by. Hope you feel better soon, just do the kids something on toast for tea and stick the telly on..that's good parenting when you are poorly. xx

EssentialFattyAcid · 20/05/2012 17:09

Sympathy to you Thanks

i have been ill this weekend and it reminded me that as soon as I am ill the whole house goes into emotional metdown - shouting, screaming, crying - and this fromboth my 41 year old dp and our 12 year old dd Grin

Reminds me that there is no point in mums ever being remotely ill. Look after yourselves, people

QuintessentialShadows · 20/05/2012 17:12

If you, a grown woman, can look after yourself and your kids when you are sick, then he should be able to cope with himself if he is sick.

Never mind him. Just get yourself better and prepare for if your kids get the bug too.....

Just make sure you dont give them any sweet or fatty foods, as it will "feed" the bug and ensure they get sick.

Tanith · 20/05/2012 17:16

Haven't dared think of them getting it too Shock
Thanks for advise - am having duvet day and telly on - kids are delighted Smile
Hope everyone gets better soon Bear

ahhhhhh the smell of burning martyr in the afternoon .......

PoppyWearer · 20/05/2012 17:26

I'm not well either, tonsils the size of footballs, they hurt like hell.

I was permitted a lie-in this morning as late as 9am. Shock

Since then it's been full steam ahead with the housework and laundry as usual Hmm.

DH claims he is "being helpful" but it's his own brand of childcare that involves putting his feet up in front of 'Top Gear' and letting the DCs do their own thing.

Please please don't let DH catch this bug!

AllYoursBabooshka · 20/05/2012 17:31

Get him off his arse! Hand him the laundry basket and go to bed.

Don't ask, Just do it.

Tanith · 20/05/2012 17:34

No burning here, just vomit...

I don't know that I actually wanted him to mop my fevered brow, more let me crawl into bed and let him take over. And now it looks like it's not going to happen Sad

You've had to do everything whilst you were ill, You didn't die.

He will be fine to take over. When he comes in just say

"I'm so glad you here to take over, If I need to have a lie down"

Then go upstairs, If he protests that he feels ill offer sympathy but still go to bed.

QuintessentialShadows · 20/05/2012 17:41

Let him take over anyway! Sure he can look after the kids if he is a bit queasy! You are full on sick!

His queasiness may not turn into anything. By some miracle, he may go lay down, leave you to it, and turn out FINE.

PoppyWearer · 20/05/2012 17:43

Babooshka my DH not two minutes ago said that he would do bath time and I should lie down. Am slightly in Shock

Are you he?

PoppyWearer · 20/05/2012 17:44

Get well soon, OP!

AllYoursBabooshka · 20/05/2012 17:46
