WIBU to take our own pillows & sheets to Butlins?

As above. Going soon and I think "own pillows" because that's something you miss anyway... And own sheets to add an extra layer from the skanky mattress.
We are visiting relatives after so it's not just 4 nights away", so own pillows might come in handy after MIL's pillows are too thick

No, if you want to, you want to. It's not unreasonable, it's just your preference.

Yanbu, one of the perks of having a hoilday in the uk is no luggage allowance to deal with.

When going in hoilday I always take my inflatable mattress

LizzieMint73 · 20/05/2012 14:35

YANBU at all. I've vowed to take pillows and a quilt the next time I'm away, even if it means paying for and taking an extra case as I cannot stand sheets and blankets or hotel quilts that are usually far too thick. Just come back from a week away where I got almost no sleep because I was uncomfortable in bed

SkinnyMalinkiLongLegs · 20/05/2012 14:53

I take my own pillows everywhere even when we go abroad. I wouldn't get a minutes sleep if I had to use a pillow that someone else had slept on.
So YANBU.

myalias · 20/05/2012 14:55

I always take my own pillows - some strange reason I find it hard to sleep on unfamiliar ones.

DueinSeptember · 20/05/2012 15:34

YANBU. When we go on caravan holidays, we always take our own duvets, pillows and bedding. Also take waterproof mattress protectors as well so we have an extra layer between the mattress and us.

Only do this as we have to take our own linen anyway. Wouldn't do this if the linen was already provided.

The most comfortable bed we ever slept in was at Butlins Minehead!

BBisTitanium · 20/05/2012 16:13

If youre going to minehead save the aggravation and dont bother.. We didnt even last 48 hours...

Flyingwithoutwings · 20/05/2012 16:43

It's Minehead!! I've never been. We are only doing it because it was cheap and DS loved Fireman Sam...
I have no expectations other than: take some Cillit Bang, Flash wipes, bedding and an open mind... I'm leaving my sense of self worth at the door... ;)

We went for exactly same reasons fireman sam on once a week at about 7pm. Went half board food ok at best mainly tepid and everything with chips. The pool is freezing absolutely freezing. Our accommodation was clean, and quite nice...BUT you could hear everyone was so noisy! We arrived 4pm mon left 8.30 am weds as couldn't take any longer. Site is ok if you dont mind spending small fortune and if u get sunshine. Bobs funfair bet bit for small ones only bit ds enjoyed, DS actually broke his leg there an staff told us it was a sprained ankle!! Nothing in local area, locals that we encountered were rude and inhospitable. We actually had an old woman ask us why we felt it was on yo have a child and one on the way (having overheard our convo) when we "are children ourselves" (25 and 26??) that was the nail in the coffin.far side of fuck was rolled out

I dont tell u this to be unkind but i went in with expectations... I was not a happy bunny... And DS is in plaster!

Cabrinha · 20/05/2012 17:23

Confused why this requires an opinion from MN? Surely - bring if you want to, don't if you don't want to?

BBisTitanium · 20/05/2012 17:25

If you think its unecessary just dont reply? Simple!

Wrt bedding... The bed was reasonably comfy... Thin mattress like a tall camp bed. But the pillows and sheets fine. Duvet covers had no bottons so cover came out and was rather gross. So yadnbu to take your own!

Iwantcandy · 20/05/2012 17:33

YANBU. We stayed at butlins once. On arrival there was a pair of dirty old man's pjs inside my bed. Ie judging from the style the pyjamas clearly belonged to an old man and they were dirty -have no idea whether the old man himself was dirty of not

jamdonut · 20/05/2012 17:35

I am always surprised that people go to stay in hotels/caravans etc then complain about the bedding because ,it has been used by other people or is not up to their own exacting standards. What do you expect? Brand new mattresses/duvets/pillows just for you? I am just glad to get away...never take my own bedding.

mummytime · 20/05/2012 17:49

But if you get sub-standard bedding at Butlins you just complain and the nice Polish staff replace it with no problem? Which accommodation are you in?
