WIBU to comment?

Otherwise lovely, but not all that bright friend, has comment (re Chelsea winning some football thing) "fuck the yidz".

a) do nothing
b) defriend
c) say something (might not know how wrong the statement is)

Maybe just put a PA - 'Do you actually know what 'yidz' means?'

A.

They clearly meant it as a dig at spurs not as a anti jew statement. (unless they are usually racist). My DP ius chuffed Chelsea won and he supports Liverpool. He just hates Spurs that much.

NicNocJnr · 19/05/2012 23:20

A under advisement.
If mentioned in the context of something they're all caught up in it may dawn that it looks a bit off later.
If something similar happens mention it. Just seems they've got a footy opinion today!
That said I'm so poorly versed in the football if it is actually a derogatory slang name in the first place with hateful connotations that's different. But I wouldn't know!

BadNails · 19/05/2012 23:21

I assume it was aimed at a Spurs fan? It's how they refer to themselves unfortunately. Not saying it's right/acceptable/inoffensive etc and most know that it's owing to the prominent Jewish community in Tottenham.

Do what you feel is right for you and your friendship.

SwedishEdith · 19/05/2012 23:25

Yes, just asked here and it's how Spurs fans refer to themselves, apparently. But still wouldn't like it

lazylula · 19/05/2012 23:27

I have only ever seen that term used in connection with a spurs supporter so have assumed it was a football term (cousin's wife has referred to my cousin as this). I have always thought it didn't sound nice but I have no idea what it means or what other meanings it has so maybe the case here?
