Lulu and "Weeellllllllllllllllllllllll"

ElectricSoftParade · 17/05/2012 20:34

She doesn't offend me or make me angry at any other time apart from having a fling with David Bowie Envy but when I hear that "Weeellllllllllllll" shriek I want to throw bricks at the telly/radio.

AIBU or just grumpy?

A friend suggested using that very screech as a sound for when you open a pack of fags - to help you stop smoking Grin

lovelychops · 17/05/2012 20:38

Did you just see the ad for that Piers Morgan programme? I hit mute before she could finish her weeeelllllllllll......

You are NOT being unresonable

manicbmc · 17/05/2012 20:39

Glad I am watching TOTP2 on bbc4 then.

UnChartered · 17/05/2012 20:41

dude, you're so right

it makes me want to cut up bodies hearing that

ElectricSoftParade · 17/05/2012 20:41

Ha! That will be my route to giving up smoking. Although I may just explode with rage having that noise in my head and no cigs...

Those ads are HORRIBLE.

Thank God I am not the only one. That has been setting my teeth on edge for so many years.

tiddleypompom · 17/05/2012 20:55

Me too. YANBU.

Chubfuddler · 17/05/2012 20:56

Is it time for another lulu thread? Excellent. Can't stand her. Never could. Or Cilla.

The thread is probably a bit young yet to segue into Cilla.

Gigondas · 17/05/2012 20:58

Someone somewhere must like her as she still seems to be in the public eye.

Also apart from "welll", boom bang a bang and the one with take that, has she had another hit? That makes 3 hits- didn't Betty boo have three hits (or similar)? I don't see her on piers Morgan ....

Gigondas · 17/05/2012 20:59

And no I dont like her!!

FreudianSlipper · 17/05/2012 21:00

how has this woman managed so much fame or hung on to it from one hit and a brief affair (what a one night stand) with Davi Bowie. Poor David

you can not even mention her name to my usually very calm mum, my poor mummy had to serve her when she came into her department (knightsbridge store) she woudl also let everyone knoe she was there, was loud and rude and the most obnoxious person she had ever met

manicbmc · 17/05/2012 21:02

I know someone who likes her. He would fondly regale us with his tale of 'shagging Lulu' in the 70s. Blush

piratecat · 17/05/2012 21:03

oh goodo,

i can reel out my 'when i worked in a posh/famous bra shop she was the loudest fooking me me me thing ever when she came in'

we all used to hide.!!

piratecat · 17/05/2012 21:04

lol freudianslipper, she must have come to us then gone in to your mum then!!

too funny!

oreocrumbs · 17/05/2012 21:05

We have karaoke at my pub 4 nights a week.....You can imagine just how much I love this song. Hmm

FreudianSlipper · 17/05/2012 21:06

piratecat are you my mum:o

she used to hide from her too (and it was in a lingerie department)

and as someone has mentioned Cilla, who the fuck told her she can sing

manicbmc · 17/05/2012 21:07

I blame the Beatles - probably that Paul.

FreudianSlipper · 17/05/2012 21:08

cross posts :)

Gigondas · 17/05/2012 21:11

My grandma also worked with her in 60s and agreed with verdict of her being rough rude and ungrateful.

Gigondas · 17/05/2012 21:11

My other grandma claimed to remember cilla when she worked in a Liverpool launderette .

piratecat · 17/05/2012 21:13

lol at manic -'prob that Paul'

freudian i am hoping at early 40's i am not your mum?

I used to work in Rigby and Peller, across the road from Harrod foodhall. (which was far too handy!)

what a big headed cowbag she was. no manners what so ever.

ElectricSoftParade · 17/05/2012 21:15

Manic is the person you know David Bowie? I'm sure that's why he took to the coke .

OP posts:
manicbmc · 17/05/2012 21:17

No, it's a very dodgy builder but he also does a lot of coke.

ElectricSoftParade · 17/05/2012 21:19

I reckon your builder friend took to the coke because of the memories. Also hearing it on the radio while working. Possibly Grin

OP posts:
manicbmc · 17/05/2012 21:21

You could have a point there. Grin
