It's pissing it down with rain, if it wasn't it would be 1000 times easier as DS (18 days) has fallen asleep for the first time since 9am, in the pram.

It's freezing, like November freezing. Going to load DS2 into the car and use the sling and a big brolly to collect DS2. I know, I'm luck to have the option of a car. But I don't wanna waaa waaa!

And, just to complete my pity party, the girl over the road, yeah you, the one whos son I ran up and down the road 3 times a week last year when you had your baby - thanks for the offer of help!

Ok, wellies and anorak it is. In fucking May.

I feel your pain. Took dd to nursery and ds1 to school in the rain then picked dd up in the rain. Now have to drag grumpy dd and baby ds2 who is just feeding and dozing off out to get ds1. In the fecking rain.

takingiteasy · 10/05/2012 14:31

Joyous isn't it?

Delightful. We had a break yesterday, I dried the nappies outside but it is supposed to carry on all weekend now which means that to add to grumpy children I'll get grumpy dh as the river will be too high to row so his race will get cancelled.

YANBU.

My baby is much older, 10 1/2 months but even without her I really don't want to do the school run today. It's raining and freezing and I'm lovely and cosy indoors with the heating on and baking cakes. I hate the school run at the best of times...

ChocHobNob · 10/05/2012 14:48

YANBU. I don't have a little baby but I have to do the school run in the pouring rain without a car

blackeyedsusan · 10/05/2012 14:52

nope, me neither...

bejeezus · 10/05/2012 14:53

Why don't you ask the woman over them road to collect your dc today?

Or phone another school mum?

If it were me and baby was asleep in pram, I would walk and ditch in and out of car idea.

bejeezus · 10/05/2012 14:55

And take a waterproof and scooter for eldest to come home on?

ginmakesitallok · 10/05/2012 14:56

Yanbu, I'm glad I'm at work and mil isdoing the school run today. Surely someone can think of a way to pick up older dcs whilst keeping little ones dry?

exexe · 10/05/2012 15:02

Ask the woman who you helped. It's not a big deal for her if your kids are at the same school.

surroundedbyblondes · 10/05/2012 15:17

I usually take a walk with DD2 after lunch, let her sleep in the pram and continue sleeping outside in the garden, then push her in the pram to go get DD1 from nursery at collection time. Couldn't face the walk in the rain, so snuggled DD2 into her bed for nap time. She was most indignant at being woken and taken out in the rain to get her big sister. Made up for it by running up to her when she saw her though and giving her the biggest hug.
We have good waterproofs just for days like these. Makes it okay to be out, but still would have much rather stayed indoors.

seeker · 10/05/2012 15:18

Ring the woman ov the road and as her to drop your ds home. Sorted.

takingiteasy · 10/05/2012 15:19

I'm a stubborn cow, I don't think I should have to ask, I offered to help her and even up until I was ready to pop she'd send her son over for a lift to school. He'd say 'we've slept in' even though it was 8am, he was dressed and school doesn't start until 5 to nine and is a 15 minute walk. She's a bit odd, she doesn't really speak. I'm chatty with a lot of the school mums, I suppose they would help if I asked I just don't like asking!

Anyway, I put my big girl panties on and dealt with it, did consider walking but it's so cold and wet I could just imagine the whinging all the way home and baby is due a feed soon.
